Fml i need an lsd.
I need drugs. But on a real note. Lsd. I have a base model 07. I see all these posts to buy a nismo for around 900-1000 and it comes with everything. Where are they finding this. Everywhere i look lsds are 1500 or more. I need cheap as its only a dd but with some fun to be had on a drag strip. I found a quaife for 1200 on z1 but not sure if it comes with everything. Ill need everything that ill need to get a limited slip diff. Id even buy a vlsd if i could find one for cheap, as itd need to be worth buying over just spending the money on a real one. Thanks. And yes im ready for the bash but 1 tire fire blows ***.

The Quaife is a great street LSD, and I run one in my '08 Z and one of my Alfa's. too. The trick to getting a good price on one is finding a Quaife dealer who isn't just a Nissan specialist. I did a lot of Google searching a few years back and got mine for just over $900, as it's not a popular part. Also, make sure you get the right one for your base pumpkin, as the one for the VLSD is different. Other than that, all you'll seed is the new oil seals, some ne oil, and the labor costs to get the job done. Pulling the pumpkin is easy, but setting up the gears isn't because of the tools involved.
I did take that half-way step initially, and replace my base diff with a nice low-mileage VLSD, and while many say it's a waste of time, it's still a huge improvement over the base open diff, and if you can get one for a few hundred $, you might consider it.

Front and rear pinion bearing
Two side carrier bearings
10 ring gear bolts to replace the used ones, this is up to you.
Two side carrier oil seals
Crush washer
Pinion oil seal
Pinion flange nut, up to you
Might as well get some 4.08s and at least new diff bushings.

I don't know that all the bearings are necessary on a NA car with reasonable mileage, and I'd also doubt the OP would be interested in the 4.08 gears. He did mention "cheap". I do agree about all the bushings while the pumpkin is off the car, especially Whiteline's.
Not to thread jack, but do people still use diff braces? Or did new/ solid bushings throw that out the window? I remember a few years ago it was the thing, now I can only find one or two company's that makes the bracing. Is it not needed? Or just for high hp applications?

You don't need the axles if you get the correct diff for your base pumpkin.
Don't just buy a VLSD diff alone, only the entire pumpkin, otherwise labor will kill you and it's not worth the trouble. I wouldn't pay more than $300, and it would have to be a low-mileage one, too, as they do degrade with time and abuse. You can also use one from a G35 if it had the 6MT.

I'm pretty sure the sub axel flange is for if you have a quafie meant for the v LSD, and your putting it in a base diff.
If you have a base and buy the base quafie no axel flange.
You have vlsd and buy the quafie vlsd version no parts.

I can get the whole pumpkin vlsd for 500. Has stub axles too. What else would i need and would this be worth it? It needs fluid but other than that, would it not just plug in and go?
$500 is outside my sensibility zone for a VLSD, unless that's an installed price and you get your open pumpkin back. VLSD pumpkins sell all the time for ~$300, here and on CL. I paid $200 for mine, and there's on on my local CL now for $275, and it's been there for a few months.

Best $100 ever spent on a used part b/c when I tore it down to install the 4.08 gears and diff the Tsunami in Japan occurred. This led to a 6 month delay on the needed shims to setup the pinion depth.
I can't honestly say I've driven a VLSD car but I absolutely love the quaife's traction and predictability compared to clutch diff in my v8 powered rx7. My buddy's VLSD is completely fried from Auto-X and hes a one wheel wonder coming out of corners.
