Advice about mods and daily driving
hey guys,
It has been alomost 2months since i got my z (2003-65k miles) and i cant tell you how happy i am with this car( i am in love to be honest)
I have been reading this forum for about 4 months. I found out that most of you do not use z for daily driving.
I will use it as daily driver ( rain, snow)
I have read lot of topics about mods. I plan to install jwt pop charger, plenum spacer and exhaust.
With those mods how reliable my car would be as daliy driver, longevity of car etc... If you were in situation like me would you mod your car or just keep like it is? Which mods would you use and which would you avoid? I know about more hp= less reliability. But i still want your opinion or advice on this. I really do not want to do any damage to my car or drive it to dealer every month or week.
thak you

any breathing mod you do will make you AFR lean, now you can still drive on it and some have for years, but to get it back in range you would need a tune. when you mod your gas mileage will go down, either from the mods themself or the fact that is sounds "cooler" and you are rompin on it more

Where do you live? That will also have a bearing on how much mods will impact your Z33 as a DD. For the modest gains you'll get from a intake, exhaust and plenum spacer, you're better off saving your money and putting it towards an extra set of alloys and snow tires.

Priority = All-season or winter tires for the snow
Power = Exhaust, test pipes / high flow cats, plenum spacer, intake (optional), and a tune to wrap it all

The motor is a little tank and shouldn't give you many problems. Just change the oil and use synthetic.
Changing to high flow cats or test pipes will make it much louder. The HFC obviously not as much as the test pipes. This is also the primary cause of the lean condition. I would definitely consider the tune if you go down this road.
The Tune made the biggest difference on my car, expensive but worth it.
if you just want want it to accelerate faster and not touch the motor mods you may want to consider re-gearing. Everyone who goes with the 3.9 rear end gears seems to very pleased with the performance.

I have a pop charger, lightweight flywheel, muffler delete and Osiris tune as of right now for engine/exhaust mods. It will be getting a plenum spacer, ART pipes and I have a resonated XYZ pipe that I'm waiting to put on.
I bought the car with 55k miles, it now has 111k miles. The mods were done through time (exhaust being the first) and I have been fairly rough with her. She still runs like a champ and on the highway I can get 30+mpg. (My best is 32.5mpg)
I daily drive her, been in rain, sleet, and snow.
No worries here.
