Default need help/opinions

2006 rev up 350z with header back bolt ons

while attempting to change my crank pulley my mechanic said i was having oil leak from the crank. he noticed the actual crankshaft is cracked and my only 2 options would be either replace the motor or crack open the motor and replace it. which would be a cheaper bet
if cracking open the motor is cheaper ill probably end up doing cams

I'd be curious to see how he could tell it was cracked in two spots without pulling it. Then again, I've seen motors with split cranks run as if nothing was ever wrong so who knows.

talked to him earlier today. he has no actual pictures of the crank. from what i understood on the phone ( bad audio on phone ) he pulled the bolt to the harmonic off and oil starting pouring out. after he cleaned it up he looked on the inside without pulling the pulley and noticed the cranks cracked.

Even with a crank that's cracked, oil will NOT be "pouring out". Now, it could have damaged the rear main seal, which would cause a massive leak. You need to go see what is happening before doing anything else. If it's as bad as your wrench claims, you'll need to rebuild or replace the VQ.

Just picked up my car. He had pictures and a video of the crack. Oil was not pouring but a small puddle did leak out. He suggest a new engine in case anything else is wrong intetnally. Hate to best a dead horse but hr motor boots to de headers?
