Same way as before since the bolts connecting the plenum go into the original locations onthe engine, i.e. metal to metal.

What happens when someone throws some boost on one of these puppys??You said the flex was pretty much gone but this concearns me as it may flex enough to leak or crack..
Also, would this flex be enough to significantly effect the airflow within the plenum?

We tested this actual plenum on our own car. There is still a little flex, but we are making one more revision to the supports.

We will be flushing in bolts through the tope to fully eliminate flex for peace of mind, we did not have this set up for this particular plenum. We also added these boltsa because now it makes it effective for FI as well. The supports on all_barks plenum are pretty much for NA only, the new supports will eliminate flex with boosted applications as well.

The actual production version will be even darker in color, at least a few shades. We are having our plastics supplier add even more pigment, because we felt there was almost a dark purple tone.

We already have a couple molded plenums in this even darker black, I will post pictures ASAP.

The look of the black plenum, with the engine cover and strut bar on is awesome!!

For those worried about logos taking over the engine bay, I am sure when I post pictures of the black plenum with all pieces installed, you will find the logo is not very obtrusive.

There will be a group buy, when we officially release the plenum.

I am glad you could really tell a difference, and yes it does sound slightly different, but only at idle.

Do you need to remove the strut bar during installation? Or can it be slid underneath the bar?

Sounds great. Can't wait to see the dyno graphs since the car will have a little time to 'learn' the new plenum for when it is dynoed. Hopfully the gains will be impressive. Is it still mid-late February when you plan on releasing to the general public? Any ideas on pricing and group buy pricing?? WOuld be nice to know how much to stow away in the piggy bank, I want to be on the first list!!!

looks like the clearance is not enough to just "slide" the plenum underneth to do the installation, so I would think you HAVE to remove the stb.

Great job Kinetix! Pioneers are what make new cars tons of fun. I'm still waiting on companies like yours to kick out new STi tunes.

Thanks for being the proverbial pig all_bark. My order will be on the way as soon as a few rounds of bugs are kicked out.

Now get that thing color matched!

You absolutely must remove the strut bar to install it. But if you're cautious about removing the strut bar, then I'd get someone to do the install for you.

Plenum looks great! I'm looking forward to some unbiased dynos to compare to the Crawford ones. Hell, if it's as cheap as LSD says it will be, I'm gonna be in line to compare it for myself. Good luck!

wow this thing just looks better every time i see it. Any ideas on priceing? Once again nice work. And taking the strut bar is as hard as taking off 6 screws. Any general idea of a release date. I know you are probably hesistant to post a date because sometimes this forum is alittle itchy for good products. Thanks for keeping us posted.

i think a release date is the 15th. and the price is under $400.
this what i remember reading, but you may wanna check out the older thread for yourself to verify.

ok... i did a check on the old thread and here it is:

There will be no core exchanges, so you can keep your factory plenum if you ever want to go back to stock.

It will be priced under $400 for normal pricing and we will most likely be doing a group buy for the first month.

Another benefit is the seamless construction of the inside of the plenum and it is completely smooth.

We are working on our pressure chamber this weekend and should have it completed by mid next week which will allow us a completely bubble free production piece wchich also increases its strength.

We will be doing tests on achieving the recommended torque numbers for the bolts so there will be no guessing. We will also be including some new hardware with some instructions where everything needs to go.

I wouldnt worry about the threads, because we are using metal threaded inserts, so you wont be threading into plastic at any point.

We are prepared for the first wave of initial orders....mentally.

Since we dont have an accurate gauge of how manhy initial orders there will be, we are going to try and prepare for the worst. Unfortunately we cant just pop these things out, they take a little time, must bepressurized for a couple hours, etc. Then they must be prepared for the car, threaded inserts, etc.

We wont be officially taking orders for 2 weeks, expect Feb 15th as the official release. This gives us time to get the production down, sort out instructions, hardware, etc. This also gives us time to further test and to produce an inventory so the initial orders will ship FAST. We will NOT have long waits on these plenums. They will ship within 4 business days of order placement.

I was concerned with the amount of time between before and after dyno runs myself, giving the car time to adjust, but we will just have to wait and see.

Thanks everyone for your support up to this point.
so it'll be coming out on 2/15 and priced under $400 ($399.99 )

Whoa!! I want one too. Put me on the waiting list. Keep the dark purple tone, might look good with my Brick'z.
Q.... Will it stand engine heat being plastic and all? Has it been tested in extreme temperature environment?
