Its Back, Its Black And Its Bad ***!!!!
I would look more forward to a dyno on a stock car with just the plenum. And THEN compare those increases with increses made on all_bark's setup. Btw, LSD, I wouldn't mine seeing an in house dyno for something to reference. I do care very much about independent dynos, but I would also like to see your company's dyno.

I think with the planum being black (dark color), you don't really need the engine cover. It kind of look more raw and I actually like it without the cover!

BTW - Instead of painting the cover, I am thinking of the Plenum now.
I think a gloss black plenum would be INSANE, I am a big fan of gloss black.
I had read that Crawford (who powdercoats their plenums) could possibly do black, and I thought a gloss black plenum, even factory plenum, would look awesome.
Maybe I should look into colormatch/glossblack painted options. We are capable of doing sugh work in-house.

Looking forward to the dynos!!! We just had a Dyno day in L.A. today where we ran a car with a stock plenum and replaced it with the Crawford and redynoed...... results will be on another thread, but the point is Kinetix was THE topic of discussion and we are all looking forward to the results very much!!
Gloss black is what I suggested a few weeks ago.
No matter the color of the plenum, eventually I will have it powdercoated or painted gloss black, and have the engine cover painted red w/ clearcoat, and then polish the factory SB... bling bling...

BTW LSD, fantastic work, and good luck on the dynos Monday.

just got back from a nice long drive.
a few more observations.
1 - car idles a bit higher than before. Could be the cats or maybe the plenum, I am not really sure. My idle has been at 750 for quite a while and now its more like 800-850'ish all the time. I am thinking the TS ecu flash could fix that, the air fuel ratio and hopefully pull all these mods together to get even more out of them! (got my fingers crossed on that, as well as the dyno THIS MONDAY!)
2 - RPM's remain up just a bit more than before as well. When I shift, especially from 3500 -5000 rpm's the tach holds the rpm's up a bit longer than it used too. This I think is attributed to the UR pulleys, I just installed them only one week prior to the cats, which was less than two weeks ago. I am still not sure on this one, anyone have any thoughts on this?
3 - Sound - My girlfriend said this, "It sounds much more like a race car now!" So I thought about it and said, "you know something your right!"
So, my best description to date is just that, it sounds more like an indy car as it is warming up prior to the race. Think about how you see them all all cruzing (at probably 90 or so mph) all in a pack prior to the drop of the flag, THAT sound that you hear, at that moment is more of what the sound of this new plenum is!
I know, I am probably going to get flamed for that but hey, I got an opinion (so does the girlie) and when you get yours in a few weeks from now (
) you can let me know what YOU think it sounds like.
I am just trying to get you some kind of thought to destinguish the sound. And the more and more I drive it.....

Thanks for the detailed descriptions so far. I'm glad you are putting some miles on before the dyno on Monday. Monday, you say?? Monday. OK, I'll wait 'til Monday........ Is it Monday yet?

Hey All_Bark, Sound like your having Fun!
I too noticed after my pulley install that the RPMS did not drop as Fast as they used to when shifting. After playing around with the car, I think it is from having less rotational mass, there is just a lot less Engine braking ( how fast the engine slows down your car when you let off the Gas). I hardly ever used the brakes on the Highway, but now I have to, the car just does not slow down as much as it use to. And thats Great for staying in the powerband when speed-shifting
Hate to be the ***, but roark, you are wrong... chazzg is right. Think about it- the less weight on the system, the longer it takes to slow down, because there is less mass/friction in the system. Look at it this way... if you let a big, heavy tire and a small, light tire race down a ramp, the big, heavy one will stop first because it has more friction...
I just had a physics test and don't really want to get into centripital forces, friction and tensions right now... just know that the more mass in a moving system, the faster it slows down...
*edit*... lets not turn this thread into a discussion about this... can't wait to see the even blacker plenum and dyno results...
