Put me in for the group buy. I have requested to before, but I want to make sure that my name is on the top of the list. Thanks!!!! Maybe there will be some sort of lottery deciding who gets the first batches?

The grounding kits have two mount points used that are on the plenum itself.

I noticed on all_barks those are missing. Any thoughts on this topic?
I had to move two of them. They are still on the plenum but attached only on the bottom (metal) half. So no need to worry, there is still places to put them so you get to keep them...

I am actually surprised I have not been flamed on the race car sound! (not that I am calling you people out though)

all bark,
What type of Dyno will you be testing the plenum on?

3 - Sound - My girlfriend said this, "It sounds much more like a race car now!" So I thought about it and said, "you know something your right!"

So, my best description to date is just that, it sounds more like an indy car as it is warming up prior to the race. Think about how you see them all all cruzing (at probably 90 or so mph) all in a pack prior to the drop of the flag, THAT sound that you hear, at that moment is more of what the sound of this new plenum is!

I know, I am probably going to get flamed for that but hey, I got an opinion (so does the girlie) and when you get yours in a few weeks from now () you can let me know what YOU think it sounds like.

I am just trying to get you some kind of thought to destinguish the sound. And the more and more I drive it.....

THE MORE AND MORE I LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all_bark...

Big round of congratulations... and you have us all on the edges of our seats waiting for the Monday results. Hope it goes well !!!!!!!!!

Like alindo posted ---- any chance of your posting a sound bite ?

Thanks !

LSDunique, I hope you read this. If you have read the thread on the crawfod plenum that was dynoed by hfm, take note that the plenum did not show a good hp number. And that could have been due to the mods on xzsaints car. Although all_bark is a pioneer, I think you may be making a mistake by having someone dyno when they already have mods on their car. It's a catfight on the other thread...

It would be far more wise to find someone with a stock car. Just my 2cents, but those 2 cents might be worth several thousand dollars

great point. we'll see what happens though. i'm sure people are going to be skeptical of results either way now, though, which is unfortunate.

BEGIN - Temporary hijack

You guys that are talking about pullies and engine braking and saying that there is less you are F'n RIGHT. There IS less engine braking. I noticed it when I put in my flywheel and it was a little more emphasized when the pullies went in. There IS less engine braking with less weight on the drivetrain. Now, I have noticed MORE engine braking in 1st and 2nd and a push effect in 6th. I think that the higher the gear you're in, the more the push effect takes place and with 6th being overdrive, I think it really makes the brakes more necessary.

All bark, I think, is talking about the RPMs hanging up BETWEEN shifts. When the clutch goes in the RPMs kind of keep going for about 200 RPMs then fall. The engine spins up faster and kind of keeps going. I KNEW I wasn't freakin crazy when everyone advertised the flywheel as more engine braking and I saw less.

END - Temporary hijack

LSDU, everything looks freakin amazing as usual. All your parts from the suspension to the motor are coming out GREAT. I am happy with what I have on my car now from Kinetix. I am ready to put this plenum ON, man.

Default Heat and plastic

Pardon me if this seems like a paranoid question, but it's something I was pondering and I don't recall anyone asking it in the prior pages of this thread.

Basically, is there any reason to be concerned about the amount of heat this plastic plenum will be subjected to? I know that after a hard drive, the plenum in my Z is extremely hot. Is there any possibility that, over time, this heat could crack or somehow break down the integrity of the plastic being used? I'm especially thinking of track days, when I'm out there for 20 or 30 minutes at a time at full bore. After pulling off the track, the engine bays in my other cars (haven't tracked the Z yet) are absolutely roasting. Is the plastic you are using resistant to this sort of abuse?

Thanks in advance!

The intake on the 98-02 camaro, firebird, vettes, the new GTO, etc are all made of the same thing. also, the plastic absorbs less heat than the aluminum one. you can probably rest your hand on this plenum after it runs. haven't tried yet though.

Obviously the first thing I personally thought of when designing this part was "won't it melt" but after much research and testing, the plenum wont even come close to reaching the temperatures needed for part failure.

This material also does not melt, when approaching its max heat deflection rating, it only starts to lose some of its strength. Heat deflection ratings are given at 64 psi of force before the plastic begins to "give". 64psi is a lot of force. The material does not just give up at that point either, the second tier of testing is at 264 psi of force.

This is a very versatile material, if under any circumstance the plenum fails, or develops a defect, it will be replaced no questions asked.

You can easily rest your hand on the plenum even after a couple hours of good driving, I have done it.

It is considerably cooler than the factory plenum, of which I can set my hand on even that piece as well.

Also remember that even though it is part of the engine, as long as the engine is on it receives a constant and large amount of air flowing through it.

I'm really concerned with which mods match together. If you guys have checked the top 10/NA Z's, you'll notice 2nd place has less mods than 3rd and 4th. Also look at Chazzg! He's making 262/248 with Intake and exhaust, and doug and stx are making barely more hp/tq with alot more mods!

262 with intake and exhaust is obviously impossible...Im sure it's the dynos fault.

I think it's a great idea with two different type of dynos.. one with all_bark's, which has all the normal bolt-ons, like exhaust, pulley, intakes, etc. The other with just stock car with nothing but the plenum upgrade. I'm sure this will take place as time goes and we are starting to see the plenum installed on customer's cars.. If you can wait, the stock dyno will happen... but for me, like the most of us, probably can't wait any longer...

I want to have this plenum NOW!! hehe.... for one thing, it looks cool and it actually save some weights, and if it gives us power gains, then that would be a big bonus!

WELL IS THERE A SEFETY ISSUE WITH THIS LOWER TEMP ON THE PLENUM........Looks like Nissan incorperated a temp control (vai water lines) to the throttle body housing to have constant heat temp to keep the (Butter fly) throttle from sticking at wide open throttle. Buy reducing the amount of heat in the plenum and drawing heat from the throttle body will this be an issue for hanging wide open. Please give me your thoughts on this

Thank you in advance........
