Default Pcv woes

Oh my God, it seems like all I have to do is look at my PCV valve sideways and hurt it's feelings and it breaks into two pieces. I am just using a Standard brand plastic valve. I have taken to just gluing it back together with Krazy glue. I tried epoxy last time, but it didn't seem to work either. What we really need is a billet one piece valve. I would buy that even if it was expensive.

End rant. Does anyone have a suggestion on what I should try next? A different brand? An aftermarket valve? Maybe something in an in-line one way check valve? Knowing my luck, I am probably the only one with this stupid issue.

How is that done? I just have my catch can essentially between the pcv valve and the vacuum port where the pcv connects stock.

I've been looking to do something different with mine this winter while the car is down. I've currently been planning to ditch the oem valve all together and replace it with a metric thread to AN adaptor then use a check valve in the line. The only problem I can see is if it is a weird bsp thread or something. I pulled it and measured it; my caliper read 15.75 mm so I have to assume it's a m16 X1.5 or 1.25 if that even exists as a fine thread.

I've been scouring the threads here trying to find a conclusive answer to the thread size but I've yet to find someone that replaced it and confirmed exactly what size it was. Any info would be appreciated. I think the method I'm going to use would solve your problem too.

Well I was just looking at a chart that makes me wonder if it isn't 5/8ths which measures .625 or 15.88mm.

Again if anyone else has dealt with this already that would be great info.

Edit: found it here post #18

Thanks to quadcam and rcdash

Double edit... I really wonder if it isn't a m16x1.5. Those fittings are readily available from earls whereas a m16x1.25 seems non existent.

Also, there's this: http://projectimport.com/store/vq35d...-8-an-fitting/

but $30? really? I doubt its custom made, I bet the just buy earls or aeroquip fittings and re package them then sell them for $20 more. Of course they don't tell you what size it is.

That's a great find. But yes. Entirely too expensive. I'll test some things tomorrow and see what I can find.

Edit: my beautiful wife works at aa local auto parts store. She found the threads to be m16 x 1.0 according to the specs she found on a Beck-Arnley pcv valve for our cars. That's gonna be a tough one to find.

I would like to post pics of my plan. But Photobucket says no.

I'm going to use a threaded insert. Since Photobucket wont allow me to post pictures, just imagine a brass plug, but with a threaded hole in the middle. This way I can convert the useless 16x1.0 threads to something usable. If I can't find one with the correct threads, I'll just buy something close like 16x1.5 and die it to a 1.0 thread pitch. Then I can use a thread in one, or use an adapter to a nipple and use an in line one. Slow03 that should work for you too, just choose a threaded insert that has your desired pitch for a -an adapter.

My wife found me a metal in line valve (standard v112 for example) that I can use. You'll have to imagine that too.

I came here to post that actually. No idea why in the world I was over thinking it so much. Looks like I pinched my valve cover gasket it in the corner anyway. Teeny leak. So I'll just pull it off and run a 16x1.5 tap through it.

Duh....

Hey guys. Finally getting around to working on this. Life just gets in the way sometimes, ya know? Anyway, my lovely wife turned up one of these. It's for a mid 90s Altima 2.4L. It's a little bigger, but I just forced it in to tap the valve cover. It didn't take much effort. I believe this is a 17mm compared to the stock 16mm. I'm going to throw some liquid pfte thread tape stuff at it and cross my fingers.
