Default High tq rating clutch recommendations

What clutch are you 500+hp/tq guys running? I'm looking for something to hold if I manage to hit the 600hp mark next season but I'm expecting to see500-550, be good for road course and auto-x, and still be somewhat friendly on the street. A buddy is running the Z1 twin disc but says its not very street friendly and has a very small engaugement distance. I gave it a push the other day and it didnt have much feel, granted he is using the factory pedal, master, and slave still so that might have a lot to do with it. Just looking to see what others are running. I did a search but most everything I found was under 500.

Yeah, OS-G clutches aren't cheap but quality and ability to handle high tq is high.

Start here and check out their clutch function charts at the bottom:

https://conceptzperformance.com/blog/?p=259

Then check out their selection of clutches. They know their stuff. Just based on their chart, this unit looks like it might fit the torque and budget thresholds... https://conceptzperformance.com/Cart...on.php?II=9112

Please note I'm not recommending nor endorsing as I have no experience with this clutch but based on your input thus far ("No OS-G due to price" and the 550-660 number you threw out there, it seems to fit.)

Good luck!!

A budget clutch people seem to use is the Spec Clutches. Looks like they have decent reviews.

I have the exedy triple carbon myself and love it. Combined with the RJM pedal, drives easier than oem and will hold tons of power.

As with most high torque holding clutches, if you want quality you have to pay to play. Even an ACT clutch+flywheel which may be at its limit for the power you want and will probably run you $1k+

Not a big fan on my Spec clutch, I'm actually looking for a new one right now. My Spec is giving me issues with high RPM lockout between shifts...

look into the southbend clutches with the heavy duty pressure plate, half kevlar, half fermic. Drives like stock with a heavier peddle, $600 and holds good power.

Ended up going with the Southbend SS. Good up to 600ft lbs. Full face disc, and I now have the RJM pedal. Also went with the Fidanza flywheel while I was at it.

Thanks for the recommendations!

look at action clutch in LA too. i'm running one of their 6puck clutches with no issue. I soon came to find out, though his clutch has different springs in it, Bisi Moto is using their clutches in his porsches, and a few other project cars.
