Default Water temp gauge/sensor problem!

I wired it directly to the ecu since I dont have the engine harness anymore.

It moves up to the first C line then stop there!!! It moves down a little when the fans kick in. I have 2jz which known to run hot. It should read way more than what the VQ usually runs.

I tried two genuine Nissan temp sensors 22630-44b20 and still the same issue!!

Any idea?

Eh?

Dashboard temperature gauges are not linear. They'll be showing normal over a wide range of temperatures. If you want accurate, get a scan tool.

Also what ECU are you using and how is it connected to the dash cluster?

I don't have an answer for getting the dummy gauge to work but from my experience with 240's and what RWDBajan said, the dummy gauge in most Nissan's is not linear nor accurate, and tends to lag in terms of reporting temp change. One of the first mods I would recommend with a concern for cooling and money sunk in the aftermarket would be a good accurate water temperature gauge with verifiable numbers, not just "C", "H" and somewhere in between is a like a temperature range of 160-210*F.

Its not normal staying below/at the C line after reaching operating temp!

Im using the OEM ECU just for this gauge and its wired directly to the ecu pins.. The engine is controlled by the AEM V2.

The thing is I have an oil temp gauge but somehow the sensor is not giving a signal!

And my laptop battery is dead so I can't log with the AEM.

The problem may be with your ECU connections. What else is wired to the OEM ECU?

Power, ground and this sensor for now. Will connect the AC later this month.

I just bought windows tablet and will check the readings in the Osiris and AEM.

If the ECU isn't connected to the vehicle's CAN bus, the temperature data won't make its way to the instrument cluster.

I figured it out.

The SPAL fans were set to come at 65c and the engine never came to operating temp. I adjusted that in the AEM and set them to come in at 80c and now everything is working like OEM.

Thanks everyone.
