JWT Flywheel/Clutch launch issues?
I am assuming that in theory the JWT flywheel will improve the speed of my supercharged car because it will reduce the amount of effort required to get the car up into the increasingly-boosted high RPMs. Feel free to disagree if my assumption is a bad one.
At the same time I put in the flywheel I thought I'd also put in a clutch that can better handle the increased HP of a boosted car and the new JWT clutch sounds pretty strong. However, I don't want to severely compromise my ability to (a) drive the car normally around town and (b) get a good launch for 1/4 mile times--which I have not yet tried but would like to get reasonably good at this year.
After reading about the Tilton combo--which is obviously more extreme than the JWT--I'm concerned that I'll have a hard time launching (or even routine starting from a stop) and that I'll wear out the clutch faster than I would wear out the OEM clutch.
Are my concerns unfounded? Would I be better off with a JWT flywheel and a Nismo clutch or the OEM clutch? etc. etc.
Your thoughts are much appreciated.

no launch issues with the JWT set up or NISMO... its only the Tilton that is super grabby...
if you have a super charger,,, then you may want to consider the Tilton... you have more power at your toes then my NA car and Hunterz's... the clutch will behave differently with your car...

Unless you're ready to kill your "Daily drivability" I wouldn't consider the Tilton.
That thing is a monster, and it's AWESOME at what it does best... As for stop and go you'll quickly regret installing it.
Maybe look into the JWT Flywheel/Clutch combo... Zero complaints about their flywheel, and I'm sure their clutch will carry the same reputation.
If you need pricing give Doug a shout on Monday...

Is Tilton still developing a streetable clutch to go along with their 8lb. flywheel? By streetable I just mean that stop and go traffic will not be a problem. i heard this a while ago and have not heard anything since. Does anybody know?
I had the JWT 14 lb. Aluminum Flywheel and the stock Nissan clutch, for about 5 months. There were no issues with launch, it is as easy as stock. However, I had problems with stalling at idle. My idle was raised from stock 650 rpm to 800 rpm when I got the JWT, but the timing was NOT increased. Part of that may be due to my Nismo R-tune Cams.
Now I have had the Tilton Rally Clutch and 8 lb. Flywheel for the last 3 days. "Monster" is the right word. Lucky this car is not my daily driver. But the "giggle factor" of the Tilton setup (once you are rolling) is huge. Launching from a dead stop is a *****.
Now you decide.

Hey hunter... did they tell you that who ever installed your JWT flywheel didnt bolt it down all the way.. the bolts were loose, and the pin in your crank positioning pin was broken of and floating around inside... not fun at all.. maybe that is why you had the stalling problems?
Is the tilton stalling for like your JWT was?
No matter what flywheel / clutch you choose, any one we have sold a NISMO / JWT to has never complained...

For your Vortech sc sedan, forget the Tilton. You drive your kids to school in the morning in that car. The JWT is a great set up, and the one I would get if I were doing it over again. The Nismo is good, but I would stretch for the extra performance now, and the cost is about the same.

Eagle1, you're spot on as always... Thanks.
Yeah the Tilton was never even a consideration. But people's observations of the Tilton got me thinking that there might be a similar (if less pronounced) issue with the JWT. Sounds like there's not.
