Default Differential Setup

Thinking about buying a seperate setup for me base 07 (open diff) Z. Wanting to get 3.9 gears and a Quaife helical diff. How many people have actually setup up their own differential on here. Looking through service info, there are special tools (J-34309) that are need to setting proper pinion depth shim. I tried looking for the kit but it doesn't seem to come up. Anyone had luck with universal kits? The only way to really get around this is by keeping the factory gearing so that I do not have to mess with the proper depth shims/ pinion variance. But even so, swapping out differentials may need adjustment on the side bearing shims for pre-load. Any advice would be beneficial.

Unless you plan on changing diff's often, just take it to a shop and have them set it up. If you bring them the pumpkin and the parts, it won't be too expensive and it will be done correctly.
