Quaife Diff with new side bearings and seals - $1,198
Z1 Diff upgrade kit with Motul 75w140 and Whiteline bushings - $336

That's $1,534 before shipping and labor. For me the shipping was cheap, and the labor they gave me a good price. I sent them my original differential to install it in.

 

think he priced out the whole diff to buy, not sending them his

 

Yea that's what I think.

Honestly, I got an idea of the price, then called Z1 and went through it with the guy. I told him I was a member of my350Z if it made a difference and then was happy with the final price.

In the end... well worth the money.

Now I have a VLSD pumpkin for sale if anybody is interested. I will be making a thread shortly. Going to include Whiteline bushing inserts with it.

Anybody know how much stronger the Quaife Diff is vs stock VLSD?

 

I don't think our cars have a problem with diff blowing up. We upgrade for a real LSD

 

Stock VLSD's are a joke compared to a quality unit like Quaife or KAAZ Super Q. You will feel a WORLD of difference if/when you upgrade.

 

The issue with VLSD's, especially on the higher mileage cars, is that they are not rebuildable, so once they're past their service life, you basically have an open diff.

Upgrading to a real mechanical LSD is night & day difference in terms of performance, plus they are rebuildable (for the most part).

 

Coming from somebody who went open diff -> VLSD -> Quaife I can tell you it is a pretty dramatic difference.

The VLSD is not bad for someone with a base looking for a cheap upgrade.

My biggest issue with the VLSD was that it was unpredictable, especially during AutoX. Some times it would act like a LSD, and other times it would act like an open diff.

I have much more confidence driving with the Quaife.
