Overheating issues

Default Overheating issues

Hi guys my name is Izzy and I’m new here. Sorry if I posted in the wrong area but this is my first post so bear with me. So my question is this, my car usually gets a bit hot after sitting in traffic. I replaced my thermostat and bled it and everything was good then I noticed I was running hot in traffic one day checked my fans and sure enough only one was engaging. Fixed that problem and everything was good. However recently I was sitting in traffic again and my temps started to rise (maybe around 9.5ish o’clock) and once I started moving they would go back down. My fans are engaging still though. Then again sitting in traffic and i wasn’t paying attention but my temps started to rise again and just about tapped the top line on the temp Guage not the highest but the one beneath that. So i came home and noticed I was a bit low on coolant not by much at all just a bit. So my question is could there be damage? And what can I do to stop this?

I’d keep bleeding your system and do a quick check that your radiator fins aren’t blocked.

I would do your best to not run the car hotter than OEM spec ... excessive heat will warp your block and you’ll be doing head gaskets...

Also look into the lisle funnel

Exactly what he said. These cars once they get air in the system, they like to keep air in the system it’s a slight pain

did you use an OEM thermostat?

search for the threads about bleeding air. It's a damn shame it's so hard on the VQ's.

I agree that bleeding the system is the most likely culprit. But the other question to ask is whether your lower engine cover ("belly pan") is in place? Some Z owners ignore this, but it really does function to pull air through the radiator effectively. Leave it off and airflow can stall in front of the radiator and degrade maximum cooling.
