Default Reliable road racing DE

Want to build a reliable DE motor for my club racing z that I can beat on, and looking for opinions!

I know I can get a rev up or hr but it would probably be around the same price for the conversion, but I have multiple DEs lying around.

Was looking at Z1 motorsports kit, seems it may be a little cheaper all bundled up.

Thanks!

a DE to Rev-Up/HR swap wouldnt be worth it unless you have some serious funds...

Just get a do a DE and modify as most you can within the letter of the law of your spec class

Looks like a good start. I would look into options for upgrading the oil pump. Depending on power/rpm goals, the revup pump would probably work well.

Well the revup pump was designed to support the redline increase in the revup engines over the regular DE redline. HOWEVER since you want it as a race car I think there will be a good chance you will raise the redline as you upgrade the engine. According to Z1 the Nismo oil pump is good for 8500 rpm. With that info I think you're the only one that can make the choice as to which will suit you best as only you know if you will raise the redline in the future or not.

I am in the same boat. I am just going to keep my rev up motor and just get an oil cooler and focus on suspension/brakes.

If you're not going FI just use a stock motor?

BTW if you haven't already look into suspension options if you're looking to race. Suspension is king.

You can put a rev up oil pump on a DE. The variable exhaust valve timing on the revup adds very little power. It's not worth the change to the different pistons that allow for more blowby in the revups. Get an oil cooler on there and monitor temps. Sway bars, racing pads, tires and good to go!

Also would suggest a set of powdercoated HR headers. They are a bolt-up piece and better at scavaging exhaust.
