Default Coolant Reservoir Overflow

My coolant reservoir tank rises substantially after driving hard or driving for a while. I filled the coolant between min and max one morning to make sure i was not hallucinating. After driving, it was about 2-3 inches above max which is about a 5+ inch rise starting from between the min and max lines. The car is not overheating. What is the issue and how can i fix this?

That is not normal. I thought it was normal a few weeks ago and ended up overheating because the coolant reached the top of the reservoir.
