Default K so I took my coils apart on my 06 g35

With the new ones installed, the car started quickly enough but was misfiring a lot. I pulled the coils, reinspected them, cleaned the contacts and reinstalled them. No change. Additionally, 370 packs fitted with 350 stems sit too high such that they cant cover the spark plug wells or even be bolted down. For you lurkers reading this in 2021, dont waste your time with coil packs from other cars.

So my 06 g35 coils from a vq35de non rev up look identical to the 370 coils is it possible you got bad coils and from what I seen on sites the gtr coils and r8 coils are better just gotta modified the harness but the 370 coils should be plug and play I'm asking due to considering this in my build

sorry just seen that you got this working

Default It does work

I have a 2010 FX35 and I did the Audi R8 coil pack conversion and it works. Unless your talking about 350z to a 370z. Nissan Rocks🤙

Hey All!

First I wanna say I'm sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead... I had an '07 FX35 with the DE engine and also had the R8 coil packs. It was seriously the best bolt-on power mod I did for my car. Fast Forward to now and the FX is gone but I have a full set of these adaptors and coil packs that I pulled off my FX before selling her. If you have any questions about the R8 coil packs I would be happy to talk about my experience with them. If you're interested in buying them and are in the Toronto area, drop me a PM as they're just sitting around right now. I have other parts like the Parrot MK6100 BT kit with plug & play adaptor and a bunch of other mods I pulled off my FX and would work with most similar year NISSANs.

I was also a mod at the ORG for quite a few years and known at the Scene as well under the name "DatMan".

Did you say $120 per r8 coil pack?

Not sure where he got his numbers from. When Rico was making them and selling them, I believe it was roughly $40 per adaptor so that was like US$240 for a V6 or $320 for a V8 (works on the 5.6L engine as well and the VK45 as well). Then you had to buy the R8 coil packs which were actually cheaper than the VQ coil packs. I think NGK's were about $35 per and original AUDI coil packs were $40. The coil packs for the VQ were around $65 I think? So when it came time to replace mine, I decided to just do the upgrade.

I was a member of the FX group for a long time and we didn't see much love from parts manufacturers so I tried to support pretty much anyone doing cool new stuff with them. That and the fact that Rico had a really good reputation in our group. I had a chance to buy the R8 adaptors and coil packs used from someone complaining they were junk, blah blah blah. I had my mechanic install them as I was expecting issues. One pin was bent and my mechanic fixed it and it was a great plug and play upgrade! Right away, I noticed my exhaust on start-up had less of a gasoline smell so that's usually signs of cleaner combustion. My MPG actually went up 1-2 as I tracked that fairly frequently. Biggest improvement I noticed, but only noticed by my butt dyno (Rico did actual before and after dynos to show the power differences) actually happened every day. I back my car into my parking spot and every time I leave, there's a decent grade hill that about 10 m away from my parking spot. I drove my FX in manumatic and every once in a while would forget and pop her into 2nd gear right away going up the hill. With OEM coil packs, she would struggle and I would pop her back into 1st right away. With the R8 coil packs, if I accidentally popped her into 2nd there was no issue going up the hill. So definitely a bump in power at low RPMs. The VQ's in general do really good at high RPM so to be honest I didn't feel much more power at higher RPM's although the dynos showed them.

When I sold my FX I pulled them off and replaced them with my OEM coil packs. The process took me about 30 minutes. Installing the R8 coil packs would actually take less time as you don't need to screw them in to install them. They hold firmly on the spark plugs without any screws. Anyone on these forums upgrade to the R35 coil packs? I wonder how easy the upgrade would be?

I thought the '10 FX started having the HR? Or was that in '12 with the refresh? What other mods did you do?

Invidia Gemni cat back exhaust, Z1 air intake tubes, r8 coil packs, and drop in K&N air filters. Funny thing is I replaced my catalytic converters OEM, my vehicle shifts and runs better since they were replaced. That's at 103k miles. Infiniti Life. I also a member of FX/QX Facebook page.

I was also a member of the FX FB page. That's where I met Rico. My buddy from WAY back (can't remember if it was the ORG or the Scene) that I stayed in touch with recommended that I pop on there... His name is Sohail.
