Alright guys, I know there has been a few other forums about this, however I am working with a tight budget (2k). Is there anyway of taking my 2003 350z transmission and having a transmission shop build it so that it will take the abuse? Another route is used transmission (cd009) but its a used transmission, it will potentially have the same issues, or will soon have issues down the road. I went to z1 motorsports, and its $2100 for a brand new transmission. I really cannot afford that. It would be nice to, as its plug and play. My plans for the car are to keep it as a street/track car. It is not a daily and never will be. I just am looking for some words of the wise, thankyou!
CD009 is 1798 from Z1. It will take the beating and will in every scenario be better than having someone rebuild yours. Hate to be that guy but you have to pay to play. A few hundred more shouldn't mean anything, if it does you shouldn't be doing it

yeah I just sold my other love, my TRX450R to try and buy a new transmission. What is you mean by “a few hundred more shouldn’t mean anything, if it does you shouldn’t be doing it?”

For Z1, it is about $2100 shipped to my door.
What I mean is cars and their parts aren't cheap. You should basically spend money as you can, if you only have $2000 and say you need $2200, then wait until you can save enough to get you that $2200. Do it right the first time and you won't have to worry about it again. This specially applies here since it is not your DD, you don't need the car right away. Z1 and CZP often have discounts with sales throughout the year and it might drop the price a bit to help you out.
Are you doing the work yourself or planning on paying someone to do it for you?

I am planning to do it all myself with some help of friends, and google! I am not in a position financially to afford labor. I would love to be able to have it fall back on a shop, or nissan if something failed, however I simply cannot afford it. I would also rather my hard earned money be put for more mods, then for someone to install it. (Also fyi, I live on a farm, so we have every tool that I should need.) I have been able to get the trans down to 2088 on z1, and conceptz 1999 (it is not including tax for some reason.) I plan on purchasing the transmission soon, and then hopefully a new clutch once I get paid.
Thank you for the opinion man, I really appreciate it!

No problem, a trans swap is not too bad anyway.
As a mechanic I do most of my stuff but there are just some things I am not a fan of doing. As for the clutch I don't have much input as I am still on the stock one, was contemplating the Z1 clutch myself or JWT.
Most on here highly recommend the JWT though.

How many miles are on your Z, what year, and did you replace the transmission?
Reason I am asking is because I have the 03, with 72k miles. The clutch feels just fine, so I was just wondering.
Don't forget all the seals/gaskets, fluid, grease, etc that'll also cost extra. Easy to buy a major part until you realize you don't have everything needed to actually put it all together

right on man, I called up ConceptZ and they said it would be essentially a bolt on part. It is shipped with fluid but that has to changed out. I’m gonna go with OEM stuff I believe, been reading up on it. I appreciate the input man!

I have really close to 100k on my 04, stock clutch and trans, mild grinding if shifting aggressively into 2nd, easy to avoid tho.
