Being all aluminum.....I would say 400-450 lbs without any accessories like alternator,a/c,etc.

I have no idea what it weighs, but Topics II swapped out his engine for an sr20 and claims a weight loss of 700 pounds. I don't know what other factors could be contributing to that figure but if that is accurate then our engine must weigh a ton.

That can't be right. 700lbs is WAY too much.

Why? are you gonna lightweight your car by removing it?

Topics II's figure of 700 pounds lost when swapping an SR20 in is unbelievable, but he seems like a very knowledgable person.

the only thing I can figure out is that the transmission must also be a huge factor, and I'll bet he dropped A/C, winshield wiper pump/reservoir, etc, etc.

I find it highly unlikely that the VQ35DE alone weighs 700 lbs more than the SR20DET.

As do I. A fully dressed LS1/LS6 engine weighs 497.2lbs, and I would imagine that the smaller VQ35DE with a heavier DOHC set up probably weighs in at around 440-450lbs. Someone here has got to know the exact numbers, though.

topics II dropped 700 lbs because he stripped the car down completely. I imagine the SR20 only contributed to about 150 lbs of that.
