port and polish and add cams. Those are major gains on a 350 4 bolt main! Gears are like 175 bucks too with posi!

Have you ever bought parts for a C5?

Gears are over $1000.

Cheapest intake is over $200, ranging to $400+

The twin turbo kit for the Z is $7-10K, the vette can cost over $50k.

I could care less how much you know about your firebird. You are making pretty inaccurate claims about a car you have never owned and trying to argue them like they are fact. Everything you have said is ok about LS1's in camaros and pontiacs, except that you have no clue to the mark up of the corvette aftermarket. Do some research on you dollar numbers and I think you'll be fine......

Back on topic: check out this forum www.corvetteforum.com

You can see 1/4 mile times on stock and modified coupes and Z06's.

There are a lot of 13 second vettes over there. You can also check out some of the sponsors if you want to compare prices.

I am a member there Have been for some time. You can get ripped off with any car if you allow yourself too I guess. More options leads to lower prices, especially like I said, in the ECU area. The best LS1/LS6 mods are free! Ever heard of the descreened maf? Free. LS1 Edit?

You can get a used Z06 here for 30k with only 7k miles on it. Then a TT for 7 k. That is 37k for over 500rwhp. How is that not a good deal? Why are we talking about vettes anyway? Like I said, I eat C5' for breakfast and after I get my Edge converter installed I am gonna jump all over C6's from the light too! It's all in how you spend your money I guess. I am spending 800 bucks for .3 or 4 tenths. I think that is a good deal. If you had an A4 C5 Yank could make you a high stall for 800 and you would gain half a second. As for C5 intake just do the free ram air mod with a K&N and a lid. That's it, and ad an LS6 Manifold,. 650 bucks for 20-25 rwhp diy! That's what I would do if I had one, and I will someday when I bore of this car.

I am 12sec and I have approved this post. I don't proof read.

The point is you can buy 1000 dollar headers for *any* car. Your point is that it is more expensive to mod a C5 than a 350Z.

I disagree and showed why.

Free Mods and a more user friendly ECU.

Your numbers are hilarious. 12secZ, you have a great car. My goal is to mod mine to beat C5's/C6's also.

I must apologize, I didn't realize you were a member of an internet forum. That in itself is worth way more than my years of experience working on my C5 and other's vettes.

By your times in the 1/4, its obvious that you can give great advice on 350Z's. I would stick to what you know.

Nothing but love

I must apologize
I know,

It's about time too!

Right back atcha!

Nutting but love. Stop talking about Vettes and go mod your Z man. Bring your plastic you will need it to beat modified Vettes.

Meanwhile go check out Summit Racing for their C5 mod's and compare them to the 350 Z mods so we can end this thread.

Hahaha.. I just checked out your webpage. I didn't realize you were who I was arguing with. I have talked about your car at some of the racing events that I have been at. That's funny.

I know you have put some cash into your Z, it shows. I would debate the vette issue with you until the site was out of bandwidth. But nobody else who reads this cares.

Nice Z, much respect. Annnnnnd, I'm spent.

I agree it was a friendly fun thread.

Thanks for the props C5 and props back to you! Yeah I spent some cash. Tomorow I turn in my car for the Edge Racing Converter upgrade! Look for news on that next week!

If you want to study my LS1 experience I am MaxHax on ls1.com ls1.tech way back to 2000 and on the Vette forum I am a newbie called FromZ2Z06 (get it?) I seriuosly considered buying a Z06 as you will see. I was test driving them here.

http://www.mikescars.com/en_US/HomePage_1.chtml

Check out the smoking deals on the used Z06's!

Peas man, I'm done too! I like both cars.

Lets not end the thread! lol , My main objective was to see whos NA cars could beat a C5, My brother inlaw bought a new C5 and he swears its Gods gift to the car world, I have many cars that would of blown the doors off of it. But I want to mod my Z , just wanted to know if it could be done NA.. FI is never out of the question. Car comrodory is good<------did i spell that right? I just want a low 13 or high 12 second NA without squeeze ...Is that too much to ask? Thanks all

P.S dont have kids .......they just take money away from whats important.......you ride

I'm not the one that said it's more expexsive to mod a C5. I was the one that originally disagreed with that. I have a Corvette and I know for a fact that Camaros and Vettes are way cheaper and it is fairly easy to get one of these to go 12's.

I know sorry if it didn't come off that way.

N/A Z Vs. C5?

Stock for stock in the 1/4?

No.

That's what mods are for though

From what I've been reading lately, these NA mods have been proven/tested by one or another on here:

1. Headers
2. Cats or Test Pipes
3. Exhaust
4. Pop Charger
5. Plenum
6. Cams
7. Pulley
8. Peformance Nissan Tilton 8lb Flywheel and Clutch Upgrade
9. Bigger (lighter) wheels/sticky rubber

If you put all of these mods on, I think you would have a good chance of taking a stock C5. But damn, that would be expensive and probably close to FI as most have said. I intentionally left out internal engine mods because that's yet another realm of cost.

Sadly, you could probably spend $2500 on the C5 and then still smoke a 350Z with the above mods. Would be nice to see that race though

The E55 is no joke, it is the baddest four door sedan on the market. I sell these cars and they are a pure monster to drive. Even faster is the SL600... runs 11.9 all day long bone stock.

Uhm!!! let me think... I think not! May be that plus forced induction. 345 horses from the Vette at over 300 lb ft of torque vs about 300 from the Z with less torque with all those mods. Not!

There are people on the board running sub 14 sec 1/4's stock, you don't think that with all of those mods they can get down into the low 13's?

If you can run a low 13, you can hang with STOCK blown cobras (flame me), vettes, SS's, WS6's, and diablos. Well, maybe not diablos.

Does it take F/I to run low 13's? If not, then you can build an N/A C5 "challenger".

Driver has a lot to do with it. I have a friend with 330 at the wheels, '98 Z28, running 11's. I can post vid for the doubters.

This is 5 pages of nonsense....Without F/I, you wont beat a well driven C5. You guys are comparing the worst times for the C5's versus the best times(estimations) for 350Zs. Please, go look at what a C5 6 speed puts down to the rear wheels and do some research on "good" 1/4 times.
