HELP! .. What would be the advantages/disadvantages of going with either:
base model and aftermarket LSD
enthusiast model with stock LSD
base model and aftermarket LSD
enthusiast model with stock LSD
i would probably go with the base with the upgraded lsd.
keep in mind you will have no form of traction control (not sure if this is an issue to you) and no hids.
the best thing might actually to go with the enthusiest with an upgraded lsd, heh.
it depends on what you plan on doing with the car

The fact is the stock LSD doesn't perform as well as Aftermarket LSD when you have bigger and stickier tires. You can read this whole technical issues on Sport Compact Car magazine. I got a base model Z, because I know even if I get the enthuiast modle, I will swap out the Stock LSD with the aftermarket one. So why pay more for something you will swap out eventually. However, if you will keep everything stock, then just get the Z with Stock LSD.
Depends on what you will be using the car for mostly. If you are going to be tracking the car a lot, then go with the aftermarket lsd. If the car will be a daily driver, it will be a pain in the *** to have an aftermarket. Ive heard that they make grinding noises and jerk the car at low speeds. No need for an aftermarket lsd if you won't be using its full potential, such as a track with turns.
edit: The latter is true for the clutch type differentials

the viscous lsd will not be up to it if you track the Z... even with the cooler.. i would suggest you get an aftermarket Z..
get the base.
buy HIDs. buy the LSD and bigger brakes. and then you'll be set.
oh yea. and those plastic undertray diffuser off the track model ...

Sorry for bringing up an old thread. But, how much can the stock LSD handle, such as in TT applications? I am very interested in this topic as I am facing the same problem.
