Default Variable Valve Timing?

Kinda a newb question I know, but at what RPM do our engines switch cams and hit the 2nd lobe? Im thinkin around 4K, if I remember correctly...

Sorry, this isn't VTEC. There is no 2nd lobe to switch to. Only one cam profile and the variable valve timing only exists for the exhaust valves for the VQs. The timing is varied infinitely in a step-less continuous fashion (similar to 'i' in 'i-VTEC'), so you will not notice any sudden transition.
