hey guys they decided to swap the trannny and give me something special
Well i was driving around with it for 750 miles and decided their has to be something wrong here so i took my car to the dealer and i had a faulty tranny, so they ordered a new one, but i have a question the head mechanic says that he is gonna tune my car so itll run faster and harder then a stock 350z but that not to tell anyone so none of my friends go asking for it, so i am going to keep the dealer and his name anonymous, but is this possible, can he tune my car and make it faster with the stock computer and a completely stock z???MODS PLEASE DELETE THIS POST I POSTED TWICE WAT A SCREW UP

Well, that is a big maybe. With the Consult II computer, he can advance timing. If you are in an area with higher than 91 octane, this could help you out some. I am not sure it would make you that much faster. Aside from that, I cannot imagine what else he would do.
If I were you, I would get specifics before you let some grease jockey touch your car. Once he tells you and you decide it is on the up and up, then go for it. However, if he says "incredible performance chip" or 20+ more HP, I would not let him do it.

Just a word of caution... If the "something special" is indeed a timing advance then you should know that this is DEFINITELY NOT something you want if you ever plan to turn your Z into a "biturbo" as your nickname suggests.

i dont know this is what the guy is telling me guys, i really was just happy to hear that im getting a new tranny and didnt have to hassle, if i would of been with subaru at this mileage they probs would of asked to keep the car for a week and make me sign a paper saying if its not covered under warranty i have to pay them 400 dollars just to take it down and put it back up after theyve opened it up. will see what happens thats why im asking you guys if anyone has ever heard of this but im assuming no now

JUST AN UPDATE: i got my tranny in today and it feels a little better havent taken it to 5000 yet but i dont know it seems like itll still vibrate but will see what happens, as for the timing the guy wants me to break it in first, everyone was correct he is going to advance the timing, which is good for me b/c i wont be turboing the car with the money i have right now or nitrous for a while, im just going to do simple mods but ill keep you updated i gain miles quickly so as soon as i break in the tranny back to the dealer so he can advance the timing and see if the car runs a little faster who knows

*However*, there could be special situations where less timing can improve things. I'm guessing that, in this case, the factory timing on the 03 was set slightly too high for the crappy 91 octane gas we have here in California. Advancing the timing too much would create engine knock, and would make the knock sensors continuously react by retarding the timing to compensate. This could conceivably reduce power more than if you just permanently retarded the timing a bit so it never created knock.
So, if you just retard the factory timing a couple of degrees to make it totally safe for 91 octane, then the engine won't knock, and thus the computer won't have to compensate, meaning you'll have more consistent power in all conditions.
However, I can't believe this would be an issue in states that have 93 octane. I would've thought that the factory timing would've run perfectly at that octane level.
