Default Crawford strut compatible w/ Vortech SC?

Anyone have a Vortech SC and the Crawford Plenum and Strut Bar? Just wondering if the strut bar will clear the supercharger. Looks like it might be close. Thanks

I think it hit the pulley on McDuck's car. You may want to PM him. I dont remember for sure.

Starman...

the Crawford Plenum and Vortech are not compatible. The strut bar will mount, but sits very close to the toothed pulley on the back of the jack shaft. When I say close, I mean just a few millimeters. If you never move the car, it will run fine. However, as soon as you corner or hit a bump or do anything else where the body flexes, the bar will move enough to rub against the toothed pulley. This will damage both the pulley and the gear.

I have talked off an on to Doug about working with me to design a strut bar that will fit with the Vortech, but they are so baglogged with Plenum orders we have not had time to really talk about it.

I think he means the strutbar . . . not plenum.

Thanks for the info! I've been looking at NA mods that will eventually be compatible with some sort of FI system, so it's good to know which ones are compatible.

The Stillen bar may be an option for Crawford/Vortech owners but, I am not going to buy one to find out. You may be may be able to use the Crawford bar if you enlarge the holes by making them into slots. This would allow you to adjust the bar fore and aft somewhat.

you are correct. The Crawford Plenum works great with the Vortech. The Crawford Strut Bar will rub the pulley.
