690hp with this!! But what is?
Hey guys Top Secret has achieved 690hp with this. I don't know what is, I only know they have changed the vq35 by the vq30. So if anyone knows what is, please tell me.
And, why the change of the vq35?? The vq35 has more capacity, Won't be better the vq35??
Thanks

vq30 is out of the gloria a jdm nissan car. they swapped the motor into the z, the gloria comes with a turbo from the factory so its much easy and cheaper to mod an engine like that. obviously it was completely built to get those kind of numbers.

that's a built VQ30DET from the Nissan Cedric/Gloria, with a single turbo.
The shiny piece on top is a custom intake manifold from Top Secret. I doubt it would fit on the VQ35DE, but even if it did, you would still have the problem of the relocated throttle body. It won't work well with the engine bay arrangement in the 350Z.

That price is in AUD$ so about US$2100. You'll need more than just an engine though. Sensors if not a full loom, ECU and any adapters or modifications to fit it if it doesn't directly bolt in to the chassis and trans.

Can someone clear up where the info came from that this is NOT a VQ35 (please don't say Super Street) I have seen pics of the VQ30 that Top Secret put in a Z32 and R34, stroked and bored to 3.4L, but the motor in that pic is a VQ35. Maybe not in displacement anymore, but the front cover, cam covers, even the CVTC solenoids are all VQ35. The two cam gear housings on the front cover are VQ35 specific. The VQ30 has an almost flush front cover, and different cam covers to fit the different heads. The two are not interchangeable. Even the last VQ30DE-K had VTC but the cam gear housings and front cover are different. The Gloria's block will not accept the VQ35 heads, front cover, or cam gears. Even if the crank was swapped from the VQ30, then it would only be 3.2L. The VQ35 crank in a VQ30 would be 3.3L and an almost perfectly squared set-up. In any case, I just find it hard to believe that is not the VQ35 block, too many discrepancies.

it's always cheaper to buy a complete JDM boosted engine than working custom from scratch. the problem is how difficult is it to make the new engine fit. too bad it's not like teh 240... you just slap that JDM badboy in for almost nothing.
