Default For those of you using RED LINE motor oil....

RED LINE has to lines of motor oil. the regular high performance engine oil and the race oil. the high performance comes in 5W30 but the race oil doesn't. i was thinking about using the race oil 10W30. i heard it's recommended that you use 5W30. my question is which one are you guys using. thanks.

It depends upon your climate. 5W-30 is recommended overall, but here in So Cal, where you and I both live, the Owner's Manual says that 10W-30 or 10W-40 are OK to use.

I use Royal Purple 10W-40, and the car runs great!

AFAIK, You should use the street oil because its addative package is designed for street use. Race has less addatives and wont stand up to long drain intervals.

I ran 10w30 RL and 10w40 in summer in my VQ with 5k drain interval and a filter change and top off at 2500. I did oil testing and the wear levels were fine, even runing 380whp, and used ithe boost every day!

Do not use Redline Race series oils in your street car engine. Even Redline advises against it......just use the regular stuff. I'm using the 10W30. If I can get my hands on their new 5W-40, that will go in the next on the next oil change.

I am using 10w40 Redline. Modified engines are going to run a little hotter. I think 10w40 is a good weight for modified cars.
