$1000 for LSD is the average price and u dont want to get oem one from someone's car because u still need a few stuff just to make it work with the base model so u might as well buy a new LSD.

Just like jor8888 said, you don't want t go that route. I did, biggest modding mistake I have ever done on a car ever, bar none. I got a brand new viscous core for only $100 off a car pulled from the showroom floor. And yet when you add in all the parts that are required to do the conversion and the cost to install them (impossible to DIY), your at $900. And that's IF you get a viscous core for only $100 like I did. It wouldn't be so bad if the dang thing did a credible job of limiting slip, but it does not. I'm embarassed to admit I spent that kind of money with next to NO results. It allow's far to much slip to happen before it begins to lock to be worthwhile. And I do not track my car, were talking just aggressive street driving. Get a clutch type like the Nismo or wait for a Glen Torson type to come out.

You could not pay me enough to put a phantom grip type on even if they existed for the Z33/V35.

Well, the Nismo is where it starts price wise. Call it the price of admission on the course to improving your car. I followed the ill advised temptation to skimp on spending money and I have a $900 hole in my pocket and a oem VLSD conversion that isn't a 1/4 as effective as I thought it would be. I paid the price for not really thinking things through.

The thing about the Nismo LSD is that it comes will all the parts you need to do a open diff conversion. If you did not get those parts with the Nismo you be looking at $300 for LSD stub axles, and $100 for LSD bearings and seals. That's $400 in required parts that come in the Nismo box. It even comes with diff oil.

The Nismo diff sells for $950-$900, installation is usually $400

Are your sure about this? I thought the open differtial used different stub axles than the LSD and they needed to be purchased seperatley??

Your correct, I had to buy different stub axle's to do my oem VLSD swap. The Nismo LSD comes with the stub axle's you need, to convert a open diff to LSD. If someone already has the VLSD, those parts are extra's.

Here's a pic of what you get then you buy the Nismo LSD and lay out the parts in the box.

LSD
Stub axle's to convert from open diff
LSD bearings
LSD bearing seals
Diff oil

Sort of. I think the Z33 uses the R200 differential. Phantom Slip makes a Z32/S14 application; they use the R200 diff. Either way, it's a bad, bad idea. Phantom Slip doesn't work. Either get a clutch-type or leave it stock.

If you're getting clutch-type LSD NISMO is the best bet, since they supply you with everything you need. Kaaz is slightly cheaper but they don't give you peripherals. However, if this is your daily driver, the noise may get to you.

I have a fair amount of mechanical knowledge and many specialized tools, but nothing like what is needed for this install.

After reading through both the included instruction manual and the FSM, I would suggest that you have this installed by a transmission specialist. The tolerances are tight, and a small error in alignment could destroy the gears and require an entire new rear-end.

Mine will be going in next week
