dunno bout hurting anything.....while practicing today I did manage to get my check engine light to come on....called Jason and he said if I hit the rev limiter that could make it come on but that it should reset itself after awhile......I'm still waiting for that!

I don't want to get ahead of myself but its looking like as long as I stay on the gas & don't feather the throttle I can keep from stalling. gettin some pretty good burnouts tho

Is ur clutch squealing a lot???? I have driven a little so far and it has cut down a bit.... I have found that if I keep my music and windows up I dont focus on driving that much and it help me not stall..... I am getting a little bit better but I think that its gonna take a week of driving before im ready to hit some Jacksonville traffic....LOL... The whole jerking stalling thing though can get a little though.....

I agree...in fact I'm not so sure I haven't made a big mistake. I don't think my wife will be able to drive the car now and I don't think the small performance gain is really worth the extra effort.
But what to do....it'll probably cost me another $1500 to change it back! Jason was supposed to call me back re this issue....i'm waiting...

Till then I guess I'll keep on practicing but I can't see anyone eager to drive in stop n go traffic on the freeway with this setup ....keep me up to date on your progress and I'll do the same...good luck!!

Yes I do get squeal as I learn, but very little when I do get lucky and get a smooth take off.

Final note to anyone considering this setup: "driveability" has a wide range of meaning from one person to another....if you have the chance, drive a car with this package before you put it on your own....then send me a check for $100 for saving you a bunch o dough

I get even more stalls after I stall the first time. I get pissed like I should know how to drive a clutch after all these years. One day I have no stalling and the next I stall 6 or more times. It does make me miss my stock clutch. even more so when you are holding up traffic trying to get going. But all I can say is old habits are hard to break. I seem to try and drive it like a stock set-up sometimes and when I think about too much, I stall. I have noticed that starting in second is MORE forgiving, but that is not going to teach me to use the clutch the right way.

I'm glad to see I'm not alone!! Maybe it'll make me feel just a tiny bit better as I take my turn holding up traffic!

I'm just afraid w/the way folks drive here in So Cal. that someone's gonna rear end me!

Still haven't heard back from Jason re:swap back to stock so in the meantime I'll try not to be a ***** and work on this thing

I've driven some tuff cars before but this is really a challenge

Your not alone. We don't have as much traffic here in Reno as you do in cali., but we have alot of hills. Also, my Nismo diff. locker makes the car even harder. Hang in there, I know it is going to get easier. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

Do you have to get the clutch when you get the flywheel or can you use the stock (or another) clutch with the tilton flywheel?

[Hi Jason, Tx for getting back to me. I realize this is ultimately my mistake, and I will be bearing the cost of putting this thing back to its original condition or even maybe a break on the better clutch setup. I'll call it "interpretive latitude based on the term streetable"

This clutch is getting easier. If I try not to think about the clutch and act like its no big deal, I have no problems starting off. You just have to break your old habits. It getts better each day.

steve, I'd wait a few weeks. It is worth it to find out if you'll get used to it.

how high is anyone reving engine before take off? Also, when you first got the clutch installed, did you notice any weird idle problems?

steve. mabey you can keep the flywheel & go with a little more forgiving clutch instead of putting all the factory pieces back in! just a thought............jason, are there some pretty forgiving 7.5" clutch setups that will work with the tilton flywheel?

thanx,
-justin

Didn't the new streetable clutch just come out from tilton. Downside is that it can handle less power

you can always go with the 7.5" carbon clutches from tilton. That is if you want to pay $3000+. As long as you are not going with too much HP, you can always use the streetable clutch.
