Sounds like a plan, nice to see you have personal experience with these products firsthand.

How hard was the install on the Thermostat and the Power Steering cooler??

Any negatives to these products? And not to sound like a noob, but what does the thermostat actually do? I was under the impression that it just causes the car to use coolant/engine fans sooner, correct?

Reaching the thermostat housing wasnt bad at all. Drain fluid and install. Also the thermostat allows cooler water to enter engine since it opens at a lower tempature.

For me I removed the front bumper to get at the power steering oil cooler though. That makes things alot easier. It is longer than the OEM power steering oil cooler and does the job quiet well. I havent had any negatives with both and if you track the car the extra cooling does come in handy. I know some people who have cooked their power steering oil on the track. The OEM doesnt cut it.

Why would you want to do all of that?

Thermostat being cooler may or may not help, depending on your climate, but a cooler tstat will allow more spark advance before knocking, at the expense of heat in the wintertime.
Oil cooler and a trans oil cooler are good for the longevity of the engine
The power steering oil cooler is a complete waste *sorry if you did this....*-
On my F40, i have 4 radiators, a 2700cfm puller fan, a fan assisted oil cooler and a fan assisted trans cooler to keep the heat down. I also use a can of the surface tension reducer in the cooling water. (called Water Wetter, or Motor Kool or similar- all the same stuff, just different prices....)

Don't discount the oil spacer. The larger the sump you have, the better wear numbers you will have in your used oil analysis. The more oil that circulates, the less contamination, and therefore, less wear, and longer change intervals. Why do you think MB can get away with saying 10,000 mile oil changes w/o a bypass filter? Because they have a 9 qt sump
