Default Heads off!!!!!!!! Valves shown

Ok i took my heads off and im going to be getting them ported and poilshed along with a new valve job. I have a question how well do the valves seat in the block, because i can feel the circle part of the valves not recessed into the block perfectly. I can feel up on the circle part all the way around the valve with my finger nail. Is this the evidence that i need to say the valves were hit when the timing chain was off, and caused the low compression i tested after i corrected it?

Thanks Glen

hey let me know how that port and polish goes, all your headwork for that matter. I can't answer the question you just asked, but I am highly interested in doing headwork as well. hehe I have a 5AT also and the concept of FI just doesn't appeal too much to me, I think a built NA motor + some juice is enough for me.

The valves might not be closed all the way if that cyclinder isn't at TDC when the head was removed. I think you are reffering to the space around the base of the valve and the valve seat.

I believe the valve seats are at least .100" away from the end of the valve, so you would feel a little space from the top of the valve to the seat. But there absolutely shouldnt be space between the valve seat and the head. If your valves turn out to be not seating properly, you could either lap the valve seat again with a "valve seat lapper" or just buy new valves if some of them are bent or something.
