Question Cam question

I'm currently researching the available cams on the market. So far I know Nismo, Tomei, Crawford, and JWT make cam profiles. Does anyboby here have experience w/ any of these cams and valvetrains? Anything circulating around the rumor mill about which ones produce the most useable power?

I have the Nismos, and alone, they're not going to produce much power. With my Vortech, however, I've been quited pleased with their help.

I actually have a G35 coupe. My current plans are TEIN suspension, Hotchkis sways, test pipes, Volk TE37's, Blitz exhaust and possibly the individuals that Toda is producing (if it's not too expensive). I don't really plan on doing any cosmetic mods besides another front grill/rear wing............possibly Gaila.

Ok, I have (as you can read below) a fully built engine. When I had the HKS FCON V PRO installed the problem that i had was with the JWT cams. But what you really need to know is that if you look at the JWT website and in tiny writing where the cams are listed it reads:

DO NOT USE THESE CAMS UNLESS AN IDLE STABALIZING KIT IS INSTALLED (CALL JWT BEFORE INSTALL)

I nor did Jason at Performance saw this and I had him order these promptly. When they were trying to tune my car it took an extra week to get it to tune correctly without the engine dying. So just be careful when you buy them that you get the stabalizing kit also. Otherwise the cams are great and the car runs perfectly.

I have the JWT cams and have had zero issues with stalling. My idle rpms were bumped up just a tad, but I don't think I would have even needed that.

what are your goals with the car power wise? Just street use? Do you plan on doing headers?

I'm just trying to ascertain a bit more power for street use. I'll probably never track my G seriously. I'll probably do the basic I/H/E. Any recommendations on a good street cam?

I have the nismos and love them. I was stalling at every traffic light though. So with any cams you need to get the idle raised.

Thanks for the heads up ZRay! How much extra was the stabalizing kit?
