what exectly did you do to the lower? I see that you smoothed everything out and removed castings and text. But did you lower the front runners?

U cant really tell from the pics but i took off a good amount from the front runner but i also lowered the others. i thought i'd try something diff so i lowered them in a downward slope like the top plenum does to get a better even flow all round..... Finaly got it on the other day took me prety much the whole day cuz i decided since i was in there i might as well get creative.. so i painted my throttle body to match the manifold and also replaced my valve cover gaskets and painted the covers red... right after i finished i cleaned up, made sure everything ran good, and took it on a 1 hour drive at about 80-85 mph and everything held up awesome... gains via dyno butt r noticable but it could just be in my head.. my g.f did notice it sounds a tad meaner.. and im getting about 1 mpg more than b4 so thats always good.

I'll try to keep this alive, would be great if some of the people who inspired me could come back and give us all a check up...

Casting Surface

Big casting flaw

Grinded off the top of the front runners

Before I started grinding

After around 30 mins

more than an hour of grinding at 80 grit

another 30 minutes at 120 grit

attempting to grind around the curve

combination of: a sanding porting/polishing kit from summit racing, a surface prep kit for air tools, sandpaper of various grits, a dremel with flex line and a rotozip, and a couple ingenious ways of putting them all together.

whats the surface prep kit.
I pretty much have all of those items minus the summit kit, which ive seen for a very reasonable price.

Any tips?

And how does the butt-dyno feel after all these mods are said n done?

thanks

got the surface prep kits at lowes/homedepot near the air compressor equip

this is still a work in progress. I have a dyno day scheduled on the 13th of December where I hope to have a before and after reading. I will compare the stock Throttle body>Upper Plenum>Lower Plenum>Runners to my modified versions.

what was your method for bringing down the tops of the front 2 runners consistantly?
Which tools did you use?

you used a measuring caliper before and after, right?
How much did you bring down the tops of the 2 front runners?
I have yet to do that portion of the project due to not knowing how much to bring it down.

which kit did you go with?
http://www.summitracing.com/search/?...porting&page=1

Also, what was the final grit that you used? Im thinking to leave the whole thing a little rough, like maybe 120 grit....

think its this one, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SAI-260006/

didn't really check to see how much to bring it down, I just did what looked right. I was conservative in my decision since I figured a little was better than nothing but too much could be very bad.

I'm not done yet but I think I will finish off with 150 or 220 by hand.

how did you do on the runners of the lower plenum?
I think i tried it like a year ago, n from what i remember the turn made it difficult.
I believe flapper style sanding bits worked best on those turns.
