I would like to get a more professional looking catch can in the near future. But this was fun to put together & works pretty well for cheap.

Well, I've been running the mesh inside the canister for about a week, and it is definitely catching more oil now... :-) And just think, without a catch can all this blow-by would be sludging up the plenum, and going into the combustion chambers... YUCK!!

You could. But it's much easier to twist it off from the cap and poor it out.. much less of a mess and easier to do rather than pushing that thing with a screwdriver and letting it drip out.

I noticed puddles of oil in the plenum when I installed the spacer. I hope this catch can explains where the oil is going. I don't feel like dealing with Nissan if I don't have to. I'm sure they will give me a hard time with the mods I have installed.

So I went to home depot, and they didn't have the filter. Then I went to Osh, and saw they had a few starting from $24.99. Damn! Those things are expensive. I might just get a universal one for about the same price I would if I were to buy all the parts.

Yeah, it basically does support itself on the strength of the tubing (since it's a short length of high pressure tubing). But I also zip tied it (snug, but not too tight) under the strut bar just to make sure it doesn't move around. Been running this mod for several months now... Works flawlessly. :-)

OK, I might be a little slow on the uptake here.....
For an N/A car, this will help eliminate oil puddling on the lower plenum. Does this mean it will help keep the oil from blowing by and causing so much black deposit in the exhaust? That's pretty much the only advantage in an N/A car?
And is it possible/desirable to maybe have this catch can drain back into the oil pan? Would that help out with the oil consumption problem? I know I am tired of adding a quart every 10 days.

Just wondering, have you guys ever smelled the oil?
Out of curiousity last time I emptied the catch can, I smelled the oil. It had heavy scent of gasoline... how's it getting into my oil?

The purpose of the PCV is to vent gasoline vapors out of your crankcase and back to your intake to be burned. This is why the oil in the can smells like gas. It's also why oil from the can should never be dumped back into the motor.
