Post 2JZ 350Z Swap Pricing, Help, and Research

I've been thinking recently about doing a 2jz 350z engine swap, and I've done a bit of research. I'm aware I will need an engine harness, an engine, the car (2003 Nissan Z 350Z) any trim will do, single turbo kit, custom radiator, new fans, original 2jz auto trans, ecu master emu black, r35 spark plugs, injector dynamics id2000 fuel injectors, planning on keeping OEM map and iat sensors, and I'll probably be doing a drive by cable/wire setup. I would also like to keep the air conditioning, and power steering pump while keeping room for a big 60mm turbo. The turbo is what concerns me, because I don't there's enough room in the engine bay to put the power steering pump, a/c, and big turbo in at the same time. I'm assuming I'm going to have to modify the firewall a bit to make it work. There's also two hoses in the back of the engine bay after you pull out the VQ, which I don't know what they do and how I should use them. I've also seen people modify their battery placement to fit the engine as well. I'm looking to try to get up 1500+ hp, which would probably be difficult to do. And the price of the whole thing would cost quite a bit. The engine harness I'm planning to get costs around $3667, and the non vvti engine I'm looking at is $8295. I'm not going with the vvti version because it just adds more things to tune. The car would cost $5000-10000 and the whole kit would be like $2200. But the reason why the harness costs so much is because it includes the ECU and spark plugs. Would I also need to purchase any hoses or others? The single turbo kit is also comes with a hefty price tag of $5695. The total cost could be more than $20000 including miscellaneous items. And because I'm still in college, this seems pretty intimidating even though I've done quite a bit of research. The tools I need like an engine lift, car lift, and others could also bring up the price of the build. I only have the engine and that's it. I'm still saving money.
Sorry that this is messy, I wrote in 15 minutes. Could anyone help me?
Thanks!

My two cliffnotes:
-There is not a single "60mm turbo" that will support 1500hp. A "60mm" turbo is roughly going to be in the size range of a Garrett 3076, Precision 5858, or a Turbosmart 5862. These turbos, at their MAXIMUM range are 600-650hp turbos.
-$20K isn't going to be even close to the cost associated with this.

You left out a lot of things like engine internals, turbo manifold, wastegates, custom fabrication for intercooler piping, exhaust work, a built transmission, diff/axle upgrades etc. I'm unsure where the 1,500hp number came from, but that isn't easily achievable, unless you're trying to compete in world cup finals - and even then, don't forget to consider that most things don't LIVE at 1500hp. You will likely either need to concrete the block.

Sorry, my bad, I meant that I was going to switch the 60mm turbo with a bigger one in the future. And I wasn't sure what the total cost would be. I'll probably be getting a billet block, forged pistons, con rods, and others. I'll also modify the head and replace some things in the engine. A custom intercooler kit would cost 850 from tech2motorsports. I'll probably be keeping the auto trans on the 2jz with the 60mm turbo, then eventually buy a stronger manual transmission. I also forgot to consider beadlocks and diffs. I'm not too familiar with differentials and axles.

As tuzzio said, $20k for 1,500 ponies? Dreaming, sorry.

You're focused on a grenade motor. Sure, 1,500 is achievable. There are firms out there pushing 1400bhp; check it out. That may be an extreme build but you get the idea.

Then there are two other factors to consider (at minimum):

- Supporting mods: suspension, tires/wheels, BRAKES and on and on. Can't go fast without a chassis that can handle power or STOP. The Z isn't that car, even at a "mere" 500 hp.

- And the biggest factor.... don't take this the wrong way (everyone seem to think I'm on the attack, I'm not, I'm being pragmatic), but can YOU handle that much power?? Let me give you an example (regulars have heard this from me many many times ad nauseum <Laff> I have been to full course driving schools, spent a few years on the track. Yet, I own a car that pushes just UNDER 500bhp and that much power even on a capable chassis scares the beejeezus out of me. Not because I can't handle it but because of everyone else on the road with half or less of the pedigree. So, like I said, don't take this the wrong way but even if you're a young Max Verstappen or Lew Hamilton, this is a ridiculous notion because of third parties.

My advice, drop the notion of a thousand-plus power car, get the Z, learn its and your limits THEN build something sensible and useful. My car, even with a modest 500bhp is MORE than anyone needs on a street car, IMO.

It is a sexy swap but seriously, c'mon!!

Yeah, I'll probably think about bringing the hp down, but I would like at least 500+hp. I might put probably 50k max into the car, with coilovers, which I forgot to mention. A precision turbo could probably push to 600, and I'm taking driving lessons.

1500HP is going to require a billet block. I don't know of any 2J's making 1500 on a stock block. Last I checked, the block alone was about $10k to $15k, depending on the brand. You can buy a turnkey race engine from Grannas for about $56k, but you'll still need another $50k to $100k for the re of the build. I conservatively estimate a 1500hp 2J swapped 350Z will cost about $150k to do correctly, and that's if you do most of the work yourself. Make it a cool 1/4 Mil if you're going to have a shop do it. I have a shop in Vegas. Bring me your car and $250k and I'll get it done.

A 6.0 with stock bottom end. Cams and regap can make 1500hp @ 29psi. I don't get why people love the 2jz so much. JDM YO

Yeah I definitely didn't mean on a stock block, I'll probably be getting a billet block with bigger cams, forged pistons and con rods, better fuel injection, better spark plugs, and I'll prob be doing 500-1000 hp instead. The big issue is the size of the engine after all the mods. I wouold like to bring it to you, but I'm in Penn, and I dont think I have 250k right now to use.

I'll be bringing the hp to 500-1000. I'm not a die hard fan of the jz, I also respect v8's and lt or ls engines too.
