What do you have in your LS2? I heard they rotating assembly problems after 450whp. How built is your block? Are you still using the drive by wire or did you cable swap you throttle. What mount kit or custom? Who did your wiring? Are you using a piggyback on the nissan ecm, what GM ecu are you running? You have any detailed literature about your build? I've been racking my Effin brain over which block to go with. I want to go ls1/6 but are the ls2 blocks that much better? Any and all info will be very helpful. this "which engine should I start with" is slowing down my build by months...

Thanks,
Dustin

First off... that vid may be better than ****

Please post details of your setup.

TehkMob, IMO if you are going to machine the block it really doesn't much matter what you start with. If you are just ungrading internals than the LS2 will give you a bit more displacement, but at slightly higher cost. If you are doing internals and F/I it doesn't matter what block you start with, you will stomp a mudhole in just about anything that crosses your path.

fret no more! ls6/ls2 have improved valleys, and are slightly more up to date id say. is it worth it? nah, grab an ls1 w/ an ls6 valley cover and call it a day. if you wanna go big power + big boost, then a 6.0l iron block will hold whatever you throw at it, and theyre cheap too, like $100 for the shortblock cheap.

- When I was @ Blouch yesterday dropping of my old turbos to get rebuilt they said they would swing me a deal on a nice GT42 or larger turbo when I am ready.

I'm almost done selling the old setup parts and then its full speed ahead. Still thinking I will just put the basic setup in first, get the bugs worked out, and then find the iron block to start building on the side. Stuff is so cheap its redonkulous

Are the iron blocks the ones found in the full size trucks (Vortec motors)?

BBS-

Now I'm going to have to post a picture like yours with your finger between the radiator and the waterpump bell. I can probably stick both my fists in there with the fans installed ;-)

Sub'd If i went this route id go with a crate ls1 or ls2 with a used T56 tranny. I imagine i could get a crate LS really cheap since i work at a chevy dealer.

Sub'd for all the little things that will be needed minus the parts sikky sells/tach.

BBS,
good job on the pics bro that will help out a lot for people... car is looking sick by the way..

CMyTailsBlink,

OMG that just sounds sick.. we need more info on the build. I do plan on doing Twin Turbo later so this will help..

Okay boys and girls since we are posting pics here is my motor so far.. It has a MS4 cam, upgraded valve springs, rocker arms, rods, ARP head bolts, FAST 102 intake, FAST 102 TB, KRC drift power steering pump, and the list goes on..

Car is heading to the shop soon to start on my front tube chassis and cage work. I should start build thread right after that.. In the build thread I will post from me building the block to wiring. I will also include pricing for everything..

This weekend bbs is coming over and I'm going to modify his stock 350z pedal to work with the cablE throttle body. Good opportunity for a small write up.

Some quick pictures of my LS1/TH400 Swap

Note that I am actually using the stock 350z power steering pump and alternator that I retro-fitted to the LS motor. Works flawlessly and IMO look cleaner than the stock LS components do. Also important to note that I am using a TH400 rather than a T56 transmission and I personally build all the components on my car rather than purchasing a kit.

Finally, the kicker picture for bbs ;-)
