The standalone does not alleviate you from the harness issues, if anything it will exacerbate them since it will require splicing entire harnesses. In general, there are a few harness manufacturers that are reputable.
Your probably looking at $3000 for a standalone and install. add another 600-1000 on tuning.
For that money you could get a full LS2 or LQ9 pullout engine with all the front accesories, harness and ECU and be further ahead.

Thanks for your help! I'll be keeping both ECU's then instead and save myself the money.
The shop is still doing some research, I've dealt with Hills Garage before and they like to give as close to realistic quotes as possible.
I am not comfortable doing the swap as I've mentioned before it. Removing the engine maybe, I've done some reading and think I could handle it and was considering doing this to save some money. However, I do not believe I could put an entire different engine in and am more comfortable paying for a clean job.
Id encourage you to do it for yourself because most likely the shop will charge you like 5 grand and with 5 grand I can buy a beater and all the tools online if I am missing something just drive my beater to the nearest autozone or O'Reilly auto parts lol
I like to know that if my car breaks down I know exactly what happened. After the swap if your car breaks down th shop can come up with some bs explanation to make you spend more money

I just don't feel comfortable doing the swap. I am not capable to me machining parts or any other necessities. God knows how long the car would actually be out of commission if I were to do it lol. Plus I would not trust myself with wiring at all lol. I can do basic wiring but never even messed with a cars before.
Even if I did want to do the swap, I don't have a garage or carport, just a gravel driveway lol.
I would trust hills garage, I hear a lot of guys using them with nothing bad
Yeah, they tuned my last Z and did some other work including 4.08 gears and such. The only time I've ever been over quoted and paid less than what I was told. They truly are the best shop I've been too. The only downside is they're so busy now it's takes a bit longer to get a response. Good news is I'm not in a rush yet as my goal is to start in February.

Cxracing has the ls swap kit also Cheaper than sikky and fueled racing... Might want to try this out..
Honestly, the mounts look good, actually the whole thing looks good. You would probably need a hockey puck or a like style bushing in there but I might be tempted to try it out
I'm with travlee on this one. The C channel mount is structurally one of the weakest forms. They are especially prone to lateral torsional buckling. Any torque applied to the mount will make the mount want to twist instead of bend like a rectangle or tube.
Also that plate with the 4 holes... I could see that interfering with several front accessory kits which would be one more hassle I wouldn't want to deal with.
I ditched the stock engine wiring harness and ecu as well. Basicallly, the PSI harness is a stand alone harness and I need splice it into the remaining factory wiring in order to get power and a few other things hooked up. I think I need to splice the new harness into the wires for this plug.
Problem is I have no idea what this plug went to or what its for and I cannot find a pinout for it. I have searched all over the interwebz and gone through the factory service manual and nothing. Does anyone have any idea what this plug is for? It is located where the stock ecu is mounted but doesn't plug into it.
This is a PDF of the instructions for my harness. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction to properly hook it up. Mainly just having an issue with the "underdash wires" on page 9. http://www.psiconversion.com/tech_ar...structions.pdf

If I remember correctly thats the super multiple junction plug. I'm at work right now so I don't have my reference. When I get home I'll look which wire I tapped off that plug from my GM harness. You can reference that plug in the FSM under electrical/driver information systems and electrical/power supply.
I would do an ls swap myself because this forum is so extensive and many people have done it so their is no surprises. can find all the info on this forum.
i would only have a shop do the swap if their was tons of uncertain aspects and not a lot of information.
