How are you guys going about getting your cars to pass NYS emissions inspections with different engines. It's not like down south where they can just give you a sticker. They have to plug it in to a OBDII reader. I bought my LS engine but I am still stuck on possibly not being able to drive it on the road.

Now as for LS I believe all you need is good properly working emissions equipment from an LS modified for a Z to make it work and or has to be newer than the car itself ie: 2004 Z can use 2005 LS motor, harness, cats, ecu etc... OG's please correct me if i'm wrong

 

Nope. Rules allow a swap to a newer engine from the SAME manufacturer. I don't think you are allowed to put in other manufacturers engines. I still have a NYS inspectors license but I haven't worked in a shop over 5 years. I always wondered what guys did for this, my guess is they inspect it in another state.

 

Register it as a parade vehicle or something similar. There is usually and inspection/emissions exemption for hot rods and stuff like that. Only restriction in PA is that you have to drive it less than 5k miles per year.
