My name is Adam and this is my first ever 350z. yeah yeah dream car blah stuff. Any ways..... bought used. had issues. i expected that. they just happened sooner than i needed them too. SO im asking for info help. i cant seem to get a clear understanding (possibly my fault, sorry about that) I have done engine swaps. i have done transmission swaps. i know how to do that.

my donor car is a VQ35HR with AT transmission (2008 i think?)

my KEEP FOREVER car is is a VQ35DE with 6mt ( GRENADED like a MF'r on I65)

my wife cant drive stick so this is were the donor can from. you have to swap this and that and ALL that wire and cpu and it would be $$$$ to do it part by part. BUT can i take the donor heart since it has everything to make the automatic trans swap work and stick it in my 2003 Keep forever body chassis and stuff.

please dont say just fix the donor. the only good thing about that car is the needed parts to hopefully do this swap. the rest might be your next Mnt Dew can....

Anything is possible with enough time and money. There are a lot of threads about the infamous HR swap into a DE and then they fizzle out and die - likely with good reason. Here's an example of one such thread. Maybe it will help you out with your new project.

If you do take on this endeavor, you should definitely make a build thread to show everything that's involved,

 

yeah something like this. but i should have everything. the HR was running fine until it was basically cut in half at an angle. From the front to rear diff is still fine, it just doesnt have a lid? The chassis and frames were the same right? thats what im tryin to find out. so basically a DE shell with HR insides? if it wont just straight fit in there im not doing it. LOL! nope not today. But if it will fit hell yeah that like a 1 maybe 2 weeks move everything over project.

you will need the hr power steering rack, rad support, hood, and other things i am sure i am forgetting.

 

From my understanding, it will bolt in if you have all the right parts. However, the difficult part is getting HR electronics to work with DE electronics (i.e. you may get it to turn on and run, but you'll have a Christmas tree of lights on the dash). I don't know how strict smog regulations are in your state, but that situation wouldn't fly in California.
