Question: to properly paint the NISMO wing . . .
I have a quick question for anyone out there in the know:
To properly paint the NISMO rear wing, must one separate the base part of the wing from the upper wing part, paint the two pieces separately, and then reassemble them, and finally install it on the rear deck lid?
The reason I ask is because, I purchased a Carbon Creations carbon fiber JDM NISMO rear wing, which comes as a two piece assembly. The base half is attached to the wing half via two phillips bolts on each side (total of 4). I didn't think it was held together very well, so in my infinite wisdom, I decided to remove the two pieces from eachother (which I had to do anyway--long story) by simply unscrewing those bolts--no problem. Then, here comes the genius, I used some gorilla glue on the mating surfaces, and rescrewed the pieces together and let dry. No way these two pieces are EVER coming apart.
Then, I take it to an autobody shop to be partially painted. I wanted to paint everything except the top center piece the color of my Z (like this guy: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=95260). However, the painter informs me that in order to properly paint the piece, one would need to separate the two pieces, b/c the paint nozzle needs to be at least 12" away from the surface to be painted, which is impossible for the surfaces between the top of the base and the bottom of the wing--unless you separate them, and paint them separately.
So, either the paint guy I talked to is wrong, or someone reading this thread can have a FREE carbon fiber NISMO rear wing--I kid you not. If it turns out, it can't be properly painted, I don't want an entirely carbon fiber NISMO wing--and I will give it away to whomever picks it up first (that's about $500.00 worth of free stuff for someone).

From all i've seen... they're all two pieces. I just ordered mine and my bodyshop told me they'd have to be painted in two pieces... painting it while put together like that would be a pain in the butt.
Hehe, were you really anxious to see the spoiler on your car when you got it? Cuz i think you should've waited for it to be painted first, then glue it together.

I'm getting rid of this Carbon Fiber wing in the next week or so. Please check the Private Classifieds for a thread about the wing. I'm selling it for $150.00. I paid $500.00
