Default HELP!....Please tell me if I am being unreasonable about this.....

I placed an order last Nov/early Dec with clearcorners.com for a set of custom color matched headlights. I paid $2400 up front for this. They gave an estimated completion date of mid-January. I called in early January just to inquire, and I was told everythhing was on schedule. It is now late February and I still haven't received the lights.

What I am more upset about it that EVERY TIME I contact them, they keep tellling me the lights are "almost ready". I even told them that I have gone ahead and scheduled other work on the car for this past week and asked if that would be a problem in terms of delivery. They told me "no problem. Your lights should be shipped by Friday or Monday at the latest". This was last week and they still haven't shipped them, nor are they even completed.

Am I being unreasonable in being upset about this? Their excuse is always "quality is our first priority". What good is quality if I never get the lights!!!!

I would not be so upset if they just told me the truth about the delay and gave a me a real date of delivery. I have put off other work on my car because I keep thinking that the lights will arrive any day now.

Opinions wanted on what I should do?

Did you have a set completion date? If they said shipped by Monday and they didn't they may be in breach. The problem is, it's a hassle to deal with companies this way. Did you pay by credit card?

There is very little that pisses me off more than when vendors don't produce by deadline.

from a vendor, thats retarded. You paid for quality, that goes without saying, as does on time delivery.

I dont know if you can call these guys a vender, I think they work out of there garage... I've seen there work tho and its pretty awesome, but i've read complaints about there time frame from other guys on other boards....

If I remember right they don't even take credit cards, has to be pay pal or check I beleive... This is one of the reason I didn't have them do my lights... Would of luv to have them do it, but there whole setup does not sound very professional...

I for one know that these things can sometimes take longer than expected, over a month longer is a bit extreme but their level of modification is more than anything Ive ever tried.

still; 2400$ up front is alot to miss the deadline... maybe 50:50 in that case would be a better setup to ensure theres some incentive to finish the job...

1 question though, since when is their headlights 2400$? thought it was like 900...

Portions of the inside of the headlight housing are color-matched to the color of the car. Kinda like the headlights on the new corvette.

In paypal, if u payed paypal, you can pay threw paypal with ur credit card, and if u did this, its the same exact thing as paying directly with a credit card. If u really want, call your credit card, say uve been waiting for the product and they just keep delaying so you want to cancel the order.

ya, either wait or cut bait, or you could write them a nice email explaining your concerns, and throw in the fact that you are a member of a 40k large forum and want to be able to give them rave reviews on our site.

Yes, this is true. If a customer gives us a deadline prior to ordering, we will let the customer know whether or not we can meet that deadline. What we did was give an estimate of when the lights would be complete, we never spoke of a deadline nor was one mentioned or given. Order was placed 12/20 right before the holidays. Its not uncommon to deal with delays around that time of the season. Vijay's lamps were completed one month later than expected, we had some issues with the paint finish that needed repair. While delivering a product in a timely manner is important, delivering a high quality FINISHED product is more important. These were a spare set of headlamps, there is absolutely no reason to rush a project. Moreso if its a spare set of lamps, especially since there is no deadline. Customers should read our FAQ, we state our philosophy here: http://clearcorners.com/faq/

Turnaround time >>>>
If you are looking to purchase something quickly and cheaply, you have found the wrong site. Our top priority is to offer rare, distinct, high quality products. Unlike many products being sold in the aftermarket, our goal is to not only meet but also exceed the performance of the OEM unit.

Most, if not all of the products listed on our site take time to attain and fabricate. We commonly work on offroad vehicles (show/race applications) where downtime isn't such a concern. If downtime is a major issue, please look into purchasing a spare set of lamps to have modified. If you have a deadline, please bring it to our attention prior to placing your order.

aznmojo> Even at $900 its ridiculous... unless ur having the Q45 hid retrofitted in etc

Ur? Q45? Q45 lamps belong on the Q45, 350Z lamps belong on the 350Z. Retrofitting 350Z lamps with Q45 projectors is illegal. Even if you managed to do such a conversion, what will you use as a high beam? How much work is involved in restructuring the lighting assembly and creating a new headlamp bezel? Will the lamp be as easy to align and durable as stock? Will it emit a useable and consistent lighting pattern? All of these factors should be considered, and too many people think you can just cut and paste. Real life is different than playing with photoshop, especially when you look at things from a business perspective and need to worry about liability when fabricating products. Best of luck to you.

What did you buy for $2500?

He purchased a pair of brand new HID-spec headlamp assemblies complete with bulbs and ballasts. The headlamps were modified to LED with custom color-matching.

Show us what modifications you have, or that you have done, and how much you have paid to attain what you have.

He paid for NEW OEM HID-spec headlamps plus conversion. Unless you can show something better, your opinion doesnt really have any significance. Good work costs money.
