Default is our HID not as bright as other cars?

my HID does not look bright as some other cars like bmw, lexus etc..
the cutoff line is not as clean as other cars.

is this just me? i even adjusted the HID height to shoot a little farther, but not too much of a change.

is there a way to make it brighter? aftermarket bulb or something? or is it just the way our HIDs are designed?

thank you.

I believe it's the projector-based lights that you see generating a "brighter"/more extended lighting pattern. The Z has reflector-based headlamps, and this probably comes into play with regard to your concern.

A lot of people here say reflector (due to the D2R bulbs that the Z uses), but some may say a mix of both reflector and projector...

The Z has a dual, reflector/projector setup. The pattern is developed by the overlap of the two. If you have already adjusted them to a decent hight, ( look here http://www.hypersprite.com/auto/tech-z-003/index.asp ) it's about all you can do. Higher K bulbs are different colors but they are not brighter.

Yes, that site is one of my ongoing projects. Not a lot of Z stuff yet but I have only had the car since July, I am glad it helped. www.hypersprite.com/z is where I am keeping all my Z stuff for now.

I drive the back roads quite a bit and the first time I did it in the Z I was like, WTF, the car can go 157mph but the headlights are adjusted for 15mph, it was downright scary. Now I love the back roads, especial with the wide spread that is incredible for going around turns in the dark. Still have to watch out for deer and coyote but at least I have a chance of seeing them before hand.

Nice writeups on your site Chris! VERY detailed and simple to follow instructions. I too have been dissapointed at the distance/level our stock light adjustment emits.
I will be adjusting my headlights...... as soon as I can locate a screwdriver that long.
