Why not just get some eBay crap that costs me $80 shipped for the pair" It's a matter of aspiring to be better (going with quality products, not wasting money on neons) or whether to be "rice" (NAPA/Pep Boys seat covers, neons everywhere).

Thanks for the advice, but I don't need help in the "not paying money to make my car look gay" category. As for decals, in general, I agree, but I think that support for an organization that is constantly working to help the Z community is worthwhile. The thread is on giving our opinions for her benefit, so that's what we're all doing. Thanks, buddy for the fun discussion.
I agree. I used to have underdash neons, and quite honestly I thought they were the ish (I had them wired to a 3 position switch - OFF/Manually turn ON/Automatically TURN ON with headlights whenever the headlights were turned on, the signal was tapped from the Body Control Module to turn on the neons under the dash). Problem was the bulbs were exposed, and THAT imo is a poorly done mod.

Of course, Santacruz is going to approve the idea because he also has underdash neons.

You did a poor job installing them. That's why they looked bad. You can see the bulb which looks cheezy. The trick is to get them so high that all you see is colored light on the floor. If you can see any part of the bulb it ruins the whole thing.

You can do anything in a classy manner, you just have to know when to stop to keep from overdoing something. Seeing the tubes is very tacky in my opinion. I also dont like anything too bright, a small splash of color under the dash looks very nice if you do it to match. I am a fan of complementary colors, but thats me. Grab a color wheel off the internet and see what color scheme will work for you. Somepeople enjoy monochrome schemes, and some prefer harmonies.

check out this website for some good color info:
http://www.color-wheel-pro.com/color-theory-basics.html

I am not a big fan of multicolors but thats just me. I like things to match, usually sticking to two or three colors throughout. I personally think that blue underdash and orange underseat 10" neons would be very nice depending on what your car color is.

Blue and orange with a bright red car would be sexy.
Violet and bright yellow takes a certain taste, some hate it, some love it, but it always turns heads.

Like I say though, just know when to quit and dont overdo it. Accent colors should do just that accent.

And to all those who dont like neons, any other suggestions that you think would look classy? I am always open to new ideas.

If I did the underdash neons... I think I would do it so the color would be very very faint.... not bright and WOOOAh .... but it's doubtful that I would do them... cause it does look kind of tacky... and as for the system, my brother is already working on that... he's getting some bose speakers and radio for me....

Many people here dont like Bose or have some pre-disposition against Bose, but I think that the same way you mock Bose was exactly what you were complaining about when someone bashed your neon lights.

Ironic.

Not really. Upgrading to a bose stereo is kind of redundant. A better system can be had for less money.

MissKimmaaay, there's only one thing that bugs me about you as of now... Your "occupation" in your profile. I know you're probably joking, but still it makes it hard for younger people (like myself) to even be accepted in forums like this. I am 18 and about to purchase a 2005 350Z. Now, instantly people think "Mommy and Daddy getting you a car? How sweet"... Well, no. I started working when I was 15 and I had a goal, I saved every penny. My parents are well off, yes, my father owns car dealerships, my mother is doing well in the "corporate world"... I got offered a car, but I took the cheaper one on my dad's lot, a 1997 GTP, and I told him that they don't have to get me Birthday or Christmas gifts until they see fit for giving me the gift. I have paid them for the car, plus a bonus for making my life a little more conveniant.

Back to the story of saving when I was 15, I am 18 now... My goal has come true, I now own a car audio store, MY car audio store. I used the money that i have been saving for 3 years, plus a small loan, to start my business. So when you say "mooching off mommy and daddy" or however it is worded, it just makes it harder for people like me who worked for getting a nice car at a young age.

Anyways, enjoy the Z... It's one Hell of a car! And welcome to the forums!

Damn dude, you saved for only 3 years and made enough money for a Z and your own audio store? Where on creation did you work and are they hiring?

But rock on for saving money, work ethic, and knowing that nothing worthwhile comes easy.
