Man, that is awesome. Good for you!!! When I was 18 I was still smooching of Mom and Dad. Heck, I was smooching till i was 23 or something. Heck, I am 37 and my goals haven't come true. Im depressed now. I think I will go out to my garage and stare at my Z for a while. That always makes me feel better.

 

The place I got was really, really cheap, brand new retail estate in a soon-to-be-booming area... So I paid $6000 for a year lease (insanely low compared to now, as it is about $1500-$2000 a month!), and about $10000 in beginning inventory. I did a lot of special orders from my old website. The business is doing around $120,000 this year if it keeps steady (This year being June 22nd, 2004 to June 21st, 2005)... I made about $20,000 of that haha. I just recycle my profits into growing. By 2006 I hope to have a second location, but I kind of want to make sure this place is stable.

It's usually the younger crowd the likes to put neon lights and ill-matched wings on their cars. I just laugh at the honda crowd that does that, but please don't do that to a Z.

 

So, I gotta ask... after you get over paying for initial start-up costs how much do you expect to make per year? I ask because I've been interested in a similar expedition.

 

i agree. lights and big wings are pointless. it is the younger crowd that does crap like that. rice is pretty much any mod done in poor taste, or that doesn't not really help the performance aspect of the car. Nice stereo's are excluded however, but if you do your research, there are body kits that actually do help with downforce and drag of the car for the tracks, but for a large part, they are worthless. i think when younger we all go through that phase. in the late 80's to mid 90's everyone put those GTS light blackouts on their cars. now it is neons and ugly wings and body kits. hell, i even had a small body kit on my mr2, granted it did aerdynamically enhance the car on track, but if i did it again, i wouldn't have put it on there

 

How much do I personally make, or the business itself? I am planning to take 1/4 of the profits as pay for my first year... I am only 18 though and living at home, so I don't need a lot of pay. The rest I am cycling back into the business for growth.

they have migrated from civics to the mr2 world... (well at least some of them), that is one of the reasons i got out of the mr2... being over run with damn kids with no respect for an amazing handling mid-engine car.

 

I'm glad I haven't seen any. This one guy has an MR2 next to where I work. He either took really good care of it or it has a new paint job, it is beautiful!
