Another LED Project - Dome Lights
well i got bored and decided to add a little bit of accent to my car at night. i figured that red dome lights would accent my painted dash along with the white gauges and red lighting. but the problem is, if you ever need to find something, red isnt exactly the brightest/best color to use. white is. or you could just use both.
i basically rewired the entire circuit on the back of the light housing. the red comes on anytime you have normal light functions: unlock the door, open the door, take out the key etc. If you push the light in, the red turns off and white turns on. here are some pics and a video. enjoy. feel free to ask questions.
here is the video of them in operation.

Very impressive, LED master!
Red is actually a good choice if the light is always on. In the military I learned that red light does not effect your natural 'night vision'. That is why you always see military vehicles and flashlights with red lighting/lens covers.

it's a pretty detailed and involved procedure. you need to have pretty good understanding of circuits. and the down side to this, if you ever want to return the thing back to stock, you will have to buy a new housing. the only way to do this mod completely destroys the factory metal passages.

the lamp is not expensive, so why bother? might as well do a nice clean job.
nice work!
