Default Make your own carbon fiber LOOK!!

I guess it pays to be subscribed to these expensive magazines that probably nobody really knows about (not seen in stores). Anyhow, so I was reading this section on how to make carbon fiber. Same way "Suite E Graphix" does it, or im sure very similar. Anyhow, their kit is very inexpensive. Im not sure how much it would cost to import this, just letting you know so anybody who wants to do it. I scanned the article for you guys, and you can go to their website. This is better than paying those ridiculous prices for making "fake" carbon fiber. Now you can do it yourself, for way cheaper and you can make almost ANYTHING in carbon. Enjoy

I haven't done research, but im sure if you call they might have distributors here in the states. It looks to be very high quality, im sure they wouldn't put this stuff in a magazine full of porsches, lambo's and ferrari's. I did a google search, they seem very popular in their native country. The cost of the kit is about $160 us dollars.

Seems like it would be a better option than stick-ons.

A cool idea, but the example pictures make it look cheap and ugly.

That's because... it is cheap and ugly.

Seriously, there's probably better and worse pattern material. Some of the Suite E Graphix stuff looks better than others (they also posted an "improved" look, which was better).

It's the same type of process that suitegrafix uses I think. I think it looks pretty cool but I wonder how many pieces you can do with that kit.

Default It's not a new idea...

Automakers have been using the process to do woodgraining for 2 decades. I had also investigated the feasability of selling it in kit form years ago. I felt every housewife would love to add this to thier craft skills to change the look of household items. It was a market exponentially larger than just automotive. But the chemicals (the activator) involved make it hazardous to use and dispose of properly. Lawsuits, EPA regs, it just had too many high hurdles to be practical. Maybe in Europe they can do this stuff without fear of litigation, but here in the good old USA, well, you know. I decided not to chance it. But hey. If you want to try this in your kitchen sink, or your garage, have fun. It might be cool to do a couple of pieces yourself. But when you do what we do on a volume basis, there are many laws and regs to comply with. Machinery to enable us to produce consistent quality, tanks big enough to handle larger pieces, spray booths, are just a few of things that force us to charge what we do. Good luck getting it into the country.
