Question Double-sided foam tape

I just got the Stillen replica spoiler and the instructions say to use 5 screws. I really do not want to drill holes in my rear hatch. Others have said they just used 3m tape. I was doing some research and saw many types of 3m tape. Anyone have any suggestions on what to use and where to get it?

I don't know the exact number, but you can find it at your local Autozone, or in the "automotive" section of Wal Mart.

It is blueish/grey with a red backing. The tape comes in a few sizes and rolls (1/4 inch to 1/2 inch wide) depending on your application and how much you want to use.

I saw that stuff, but it doesn't seem like that would hold it? Anyone else have any experience?

yeah, you should be just fine with tape, go to autozone, the tape you want is the tape with a RED FILM on it.

Well it depends on the thickness you want. 3M foam VHB tape comes in a varaity of thickness from 4milimeters up to 16 millimiters (maybe thicker) the foam tape is strong, but make sure that you prep the surface properly, remove all wax or anything that may reduce the adhesion.

I have some specs let me go find them. I'll post later.

I have the Stillen V1. 3m tape only. Over a year in PA. No problems. I used a rubbing alcohol/water solution to prep the surface. If your fingers drag and squeek when you rub over it then it is clean. Check the fit. You may need 2 or 3 layers at the top and only 1 at the back and sides. Keep it back from the edge about an 1/8 inch. The real Stillen has a indent for the tape. Start by putting it on at the back near the license plate then lower it on to the top of the hatch.

Hope that helps.
Dan
