Rear Strut Overlay Install
i removed my z emblem by chipping away at the posts underneath the cover. the squares are easy: just push down on the overlay over the square. it will push the air out. after the overlay has dried completely, cut slits in the holes where the emblem goes, and replace the emblem. can use a bit of glue to underside of posts to affix the emblem.
I don't know if I am going to even install anymore of the overlays. So far, none of them are sticking very well. I have preped the areas and made sure they were VERY clean, then did the light soap and water and used a hair dryer to install. they looked great for a day, After I came out from work, they were lifting at the edges and would not stay down. Waste of money it seems to me.
hmm what i do is lay them in warm soapy water for around 3-4 min then take them out and move and place them take a credit card and get all the bubbles out use a hair dryer then use the card again then more hair dryer it takes awhile but seems to work good

I think I will spend the money on a better setup. I have the orange carbon fiber B-pillars from elegant designs and they look flawless. They are pricey, but thy do very good work. Plus, they do not peel off.
The main reason for the overlays peeling is that there is still moisture trapped underneath. You really need to sgueegy everything out, or this will happen. I can do a 2nd set to you at a pretty good discount if you want to try it again. Let me know. They really do look nice once installed properly. I still have mine that I applied 2 years ago

I am not sure what moisture can be left. I did sgueegy the overlays and used a hairdryer. THey stayed on for a day then lifted. The only overlays I have on are the A-pillars and lower gauge overlays. The LS door barrel and Brushed AC vents are off. I have not received the gauge toppers yet. Let me know on the discounted price for the two sets and I might try one last time.

its kind of an acquired skill. takes practise. that hundreds of other people apply the overlays successfully says a lot more about your technique than the overlays.
the rear strut can be more difficult because it curves in two directions, one of them very sharply. i wanted a chrome finish, and after failing twice to apply the overlay to my satisfaction, i decided to go with electroplating, but that was just me and my lack of skill with that particular overlay.

The surface was clean. I have applied overlays before with no problems. I have NEVER seen them lift off like this before. I know that overlays can differ when applying them so I follow directions. I am willing to give one LAST try. I will try any tips on applying them that I did not do.
This is my car on Bat's gallery I had mine installed the same way Z boy explained. You have to get all the air and moisture out by applying pressure and using a hairdryer at the same time. Trust me it will work but you need patience for it to work. once it is on you will be pleased with the results.
Blue Batmobile I sent you another e-mail since I have not heard back. I still would like to know where my Gauge toppers are that you forgot to send last Monday??????????
