Default do the sarona front fender vents actually vent out any hot air?

are the vents functional and actually suck hot air out from the front brakes or are they just for show?

1. Don't buy it. They have huge problem with fitment
2. I doubt the vent is functional.
3. If the vent is functional, expec when you're driving under rainning condition, all the dirty stuff will splash back to your door.

If you are looking to buy a set already fitted, you should have no problem. I saw a set of these for sale on this forum the other day, I think they were CS too. Are you buying those?

no i'm just curious about them.

I think they look neat, but they're kinda pointless if they don't really do anything - I guess some would consider it rice?

no they do not havean effect. they are not linked to the engine compartement. The cars frame blocks the vent from being effective.
You could drill a hole in the frame....

And it was listed on Ebay (I won the auction), but apparently the guy sold them to someone. After the auction ended, I got an email saying, "Finders were sold today buddy. sorry" -so you didn't miss much.

I just put the side skirts on.

Both vents on the side skirts ARE functional...unlike most other kits (EX: Greddy.)

The skirts look beautiful and I plan to get the fenders in the (hopefully near) future.

I am sure the vents are open to the inside...but I don't know where they vent the air from. Very doubtful it's from the engine, most likely to the tires and brakes.

honestly, i don't care if they are functional because they are sweet looking, i say if you can pick up a used set that will be worth it. If you leave your stock fender on, that isn't functional either so.... vents are an aggressive look, functional or not I am sure you could make them functional somehow...

Fitment of these fenders is a BIOOOTCH! Just warning you guys ahead of time before you find out the hard way like i did. These require quite a bit of prep work.

Yep, that is right. Mine costed me three times the cost of the fenders to make them fit and look perfectly.

how in the hell does sarona make them if they don't fit? Do they not try to put them on a Z themselves?

that is why you have to buy them used, and not pay for all the fitment costs...

Vents in the sides of cars are almost NEVER used for engine cooling unless maybe it's a mid engine car.

they are used to help cool down the brakes. However in this case I doubt the placment of the open part would help with cooling.

at least they look kinda neat.

If you have vents on the side of the car they cant be used to cool the brakes nimrod, especially this style. Show me one car that has side vents that are used for brake cooling other than race cars. Very few production cars have vents that direct air to the brakes only supercars. Those that do get their air from the front of the car. Side vents at the front of the car are used to let hot air out of the enginge compartement.

You should also NEVER use the word NEVER, unless you know what you are talking about. The SLR Mclaren has its engine forward of the passenger cabin (although still considered mid engined) and has huge side vents used to vent air from the engine and forward mounted exhaust system.
ditto for the 550 maranello

Yeah, you need a vent in the front entering the fender well to cool down the brakes and then a exit vent just like my fenders...but without a vent in front of the the car to vent the brakes these fenders are useless, other than they're lighter than the stock fenders.
As far as a production car with vents like these that really works is the corvettes. My 1999 vette had a small vent in the front bumber with a duct that went right behind the wheel well aimed toward the brakes then it has a vent on the other side that comes out of the fender.

If your truly looking for a vented front fender your best bet would be to have the stock fenders custom modified w/ vents. That way the fitment will be perfect, and in the long run you'll probaly be happier w/ customs due to the fact that their unique and a shop can probably do the work in half the time of prepping the Sarona fenders. Metal fender vs. Fiberglass
