...did you put any heat protectant material under the hood or did you just leave it painted? Could you please post pics? TIA
I painted a CF kaminari hood. I left mine unpainted and untreated. I have never heard anyone heat treat an aftermarket hood.
The heat doesnt destroy the underside nor does anyone see it.

I didnt put any heat treatment under there either. I can understand what you are talking about though. They (sort of) have it on the stock hood, more than what I have on my aftermarket hood at least.
I think the heat protection is more to protect you from burning yourself when the hood gets hot rather than from the heat causing any damage to the hood. My hood gets pretty damned hot right when I turn the car off, too hot to touch.
My logic tells me that the heat wouldnt damage the paint cause when cars are painted at the factory they are baked in 400 degree ovens to make the paint last longer, but if you are worrying about the fiberglass warping or something like that, I dont know. I would imagine someone would have experienced it by now if its such an obvious flaw in aftermarket hoods.
Again, this is all speculation because Im not an expert at this subject, but if any of it helps....

Mine is the veilside version 3 fiberglass hood, I didn't bother with the heat shielding since the hood vents very good. This is even with twin turbo under the hood.
Also theres no damaged to the hood at all.
