Hehe...our local AZ350Z.com group had a photoshoot set up at with these 2. I'm a big fan of the blonde but could've done without the dark haired one. Picky you ask? Yes, yes I am Maybe once I get ahold of the high res pics I can post those and zoom in on the 'goods'.

 

keptrying - how did you avoid there not being exposed screws?

 

There are several mounting locations (basically a build up of plastic) on the back of the bumper. I made sure to buy short screws and tap shallow holes. There is definitely a potential/risk to drill through the bumper if you're not careful.

 

Except for the fact that the seller on ebay is the maker of the bumper you are about to buy anyways.

For custom mesh mounts:

Guys, my body guy showed me a neat and easy way for installing mesh in bumpers etc. To mount the mesh into bodykit's he uses stuff he called "cat hair" filler and hardner. He uses a putty knife to lay dabs around the back of the bumper opening which he then embeds 6"-8" long pieces of thin but strong wire into. You want to place the dabs far enough away from the openings edge so they won't be seen. He fits and trims the mesh so it's oversized for the opening enough to cover the cat hair/wire "mounts".

Once the filler(with wire in it) sets up and is bonded to the back the bumper, he just runs the wire through the mesh and twists it tight which pulls the mesh into the back of the bumper for a tight fit. To clarify...the mesh is mounted from the back of the bumper and the "mounts" are completely hidden when done right.

The day he showed me this I was helping him with an older eclipse that was getting a body kit installed. The front bumper had several large odd shaped openings that were getting mesh...his method worked great.

 

the front bumper looks awesome i saw it at their showroom... good quality urethane.. top notch... can't wait to save enogh money to grab this up... Gruppe -s is an awesome place..

 

Just an update:

I have asked to the manufacture to look into the sidemarker fitment so the next shipment will be fix and good to go.

FYI guys (my OEM front bumper was off so I had a chance to look) - even with the OEM sidemarkers (I had the "dark" Japan spec ones), there is a gap at the top and bottom of the bumper itself

 

what did everyone use to secure their underpanel?

 

I just punched little holes with a hammer and nail, and used screws with washers to hold the underpanel. I used a hammer and nail cause i didn't have a drill bit that small, and i wanted the screws to fit tight. Of course, i made the holes on the bumper exactly to where the holes on the underpanel were.

 

interesting - one the bumper I fitted Friday (my car), the underpanel did not sufficiently overlap the bumper to allow for this - the bumper edge came right up to the underpanel edge so there was no way to attach the 2 together via screws. I suggested they need to mold the OEM type tabs in and prepunch the holes

 

Gruppe-S: you guys also carry the replica Nismo front bumpers for the g35 coupe?...in poly?...with a cut out made for towhook access?

 

Sorry, no G35 yet. We only have it for 350z right now.

Well it took me a while to install my bumper but here you go, the lights did fit but there is like a 1/8 - 1/4 inch gap on each side, other than that I love it changes the look of my Z totally!

 

I managed to get the same amount of gap as the stock bumper has with some careful adjustments...I'll have pics posted in the next few days as we are doing a shoot today

What are your guys opinions on cutting out the entire center of the bumper including the license plate bracket and the bar that runs across under it? I looked over the bumper and am aware that youd have to smooth out the lines around the mouth of it to make it look even with no gaps but overall how do you think it will look, with a FMIC? Also do you guys agree that if you just cut out that license plate bracket that the bar under it will be very flimsy and probably flap up and down at faster speeds?

 

I did a real quick photoshop of his car with the center cut out and kind of a front mount..... what do you guys think..
