Default How Many .....

How many people here on the forum use there car for shows. There is a contest next weekend that is local and was thinking of entering since I put so much into this car before I decide if I am going to keep it. I use it for daily driving, so there is acouple things that are not perfect. Plus the lips on the Volks have some scratches that won't come off and the black pillar outside the car is scratchy looking. Are the judges really picky when it comes to this stuff. Just trying to see how many people use there cars for shows and also drive it daily. I am unable to garage it also, so it gets dirty fast.

I've entered shows...and yes the judges are usually VERY VERY picky on minor imperfections.

Just like every driver, each judge brings something unique to the table. A judge can easily tell a daily driver from one which has been trailored, at looks at each on its own merits. Of course attention to detail is important: is the car clean in places which are not easily visible (the front wheel wells are an example)?

More important than what you put on the car is the overall balance. Does the car have a consistent theme? Is the look balanced? $4,000 wheels wont automatically get you first place. In fact, throwing dollars haphazardly may work against you.

Remember, you cant win if you don’t enter. Enjoy the day.

+1 well put davidv. And at the end of the day, what matters is that you had fun, checked out the new trends and products, and see what fits with your own theme. Car shows trigger the ideas for innovation, which is an aspect of which pushes this industry forward. Appreciate just that for what it's worth, and you will enjoy the car shows.

btw davidv: never had a chance to follow up, but how did the ingen exhaust affect your time down the 1320?

I think you should just enter either way. I like daily drivers a hell of lot more than trailer queens. Somehting cool about a completley modded out car that roams around the streets.

There ae several shows every weekend around Dallas. They are "participant judging" shows. In other words, everyone entered judges on all the other cars by class. If you have a nice but not perfect car there is still a good chance you can win.
I have a daily driver with not too many mods that I enter once or twice a month at different shows and have always won something. Go ahead and enter. Good for a fun day of BSing with the other owners and spectators.

Here's mine with some of my trophies:
